It took G so long, because he never wanted to fight someone who might actually beat him. He never tried for anyone. He cried to the media, but whenever anyone showed any interest he instantly turned them down. Did he ever send any offer to Maravilla? Or Cotto? Or did he agree to take step aside money so Canelo-Cotto could take place while he went off to fight Wade. It took G and Loeffler one day to finish everything for the fight with Wade and with Brook!!! God dang, Golovkin is a hell of a talent, too bad he never dared to be great. I get it though, if I knew if I kept avoiding risks I would make a million or two every fight and get to stay in the U.S., whereas if I lost I would have to go back to a third-world country with nothing but vodka, cold, and snow I might choose the safe route too.

Canelo fought Trout when Canelo was 21 or 22. Golovkin just fought his first opponent on the level of Trout his last fight against Jacobs, at 34. Canelo has already fought Trout and Lara, two very tough opponents with very little money. Any G fan crying about ducking, needs to actually see who has fought who. Canelo has a resume full of good fights. G has a resume full of excuses and bus drivers.
