Comments Thread For: Joe Smith Eager To Get Impressive Win Over Sullivan Barrera

Joe Smith Jr's story is a well trodden one in boxing. A working class hero who's striving to hit the pinnacle of the boxing world. His opponent Sullivan Barrera is a Cuban amateur standout, with a single loss to pound-for-pound great Andre Ward. Both guys will face-off on the undercard of Berchelt-Miura with a view to eventually getting a crack at a World Light-Heavyweight Championship.

Sullivan Barrera is a good boxer and a hard puncher.

If Joe Smith defeats him, he deserves credit and a world title shot.

I'd be impressed. Really impressed. Barrera is very solid all-around. I'll be rooting for Smith and would love to see him fight for the title if he wins this.

I don't think Smith has a shot. Barrera is better overall in pretty much every category IMO. Should be a fun one though

Smith continues to be an underdog but he will continue winning. This match is not different, Barrera will get beat.

Can Joe Smith beat the odds 3x in a row?

              He's got the power.

              Great card.

Bazooka Joe vs Cuban Dynamite, going with the upset win after Joe goes down early and works his way back to a stunning knockout win in the 10th round in a FOTY candidate fight!

                Gonna be a barnburner!

Does he even want that title fight??? Stevenson offered to go to New York to fight him but his management made it impossible asking for 50-50, rematch clause, promotion rights and control over ticket sales.
