He probably should have gone for the kill - in retrospect.
Not so easy when you're in there and you believe the other guy is going to gas. Must feel like you have the time.
IMHO Joshua will be more dangerous in the next fight because he learnt from this one.Comment

Wlad gave a great effort at 41yrs and should be proud as hell
Joshua KO'd Wlad in a great bout between two warriors. Boxing needs great heavy fights like this. Wlad might beat Joshua in a rematch but does it even matter at 41?
Just a great fight to watch.Comment

It was a really really really bad advice. What would have been the biggest victory of his career, ended with a not shamefull loss, but still. He was so ****ing close, I had AJ out for 4 full rounds. He should've pressed harder than he ever had. He was even in England, just to take it out of the hands of the judges. Wladimir won me over as a fan, I've always thought he was a very boring statue. But that night he proved himself right and everything he said leading up to the fight. He definitely earned the respect of even the biggest haters that night - Imagine if he had won. AJ would've been a bum!Comment

hindsight is 20/20
if wlad attacked him more aggressively and got caught himself everyone would be saying he was a massive fool. that joshua never been past 7 rounds or whatever it is, that he carries too much muscle and doesnt have a style thats good for going the distance. that wlad had him and threw it all away by being greedy.
its not like wlad didnt try to finissh him either, he was just careful and patient about it. picking his punches rather than going all out for the finish.
when ppl act like he didnt try at all its just silly, he went after joshua in a calculated manner and when joshua ultimately survived and recovered he went back to boxing and letting the KO present itself when the time was right.
which was incidentaly the same thing joshua did, he was just the better man.Comment

I didn't see anything wrong with Vitali's advice. I think he was correct. Because it prevent Wladimir from blowing is own load and risk being there for the taking if he failed to get Joshua out. It was a double edged sword.
It was a sensible move to box cautiously and remaining in control. Because I had him sweeping the rounds late on.
The biggest mistake, however, was that Wladimir got complacent and didn't spot when Joshua came out and jumped on him in that final round.Comment

Vitali was right but Joshua got a second wind and is 14 years younger than a 41 y/o Wladimir. If Wlad went for it any more he may have got the KO but he also could have been knocked out cold. It is what it is and Wlad has nothing else to prove.Comment

He wasn't wrong but should have added don't get caught with a huge uppercut. In fact when the fight was finally stopped Joshua was completely gassed, so tired that if the fight had gone on (And Joshua was landing nothing when it was stopped) he might well have been stopped if Wlad could have landed even a single punch.
Joshua is going to have trouble in the future with anyone tough enough to weather the storm. Somebody like Brewster was.Comment
