This fighgt reminds me of Hagler - Hearns in terms of the A side fighter moving up to face the MW king, after having lost to boxing's top draw years prior.

However, unlike Hearns, Canelo doesn't have that KO potential. Don't think he'll go out on a stretcher like Hearns did (because he'll fight smarter), but I do see him losing by stoppage.

Why does Floyd always have to duck everyone good? GGG vs Floyd for the lineal middleweight title, as well as all four belts, May next year, after GGG beats Canelo in September and Saunders in January, would be the biggest boxing match in history, bigger than Mayweather-Pacquiao, bigger than Mayweather-Mcgregor. GGG can't make 155 anymore but Floyd at this point is bulkier than he's ever been, and 159 would be a good weight. Or Floyd could really try to outshine SRL and SRR and just go to 160 to prove all the haters wrong for once and for all time.

But that is the fight. Why would they leave a 5 million PPV sales type of fight, and global fight, on the table? Floyd fights sell when people think he might lose. Against GGG, he would be the underdog for the first time, and he might not only lose, but he might get KTFO. 10 million people might pay to see that! It's also history at 160. It also compares favorably to what SRL did at the end of his career, legacy wise. It has everything for both GGG and Floyd, in terms of money AND legacy AND history. And GGG is just as well liked as Pacquiao, even more so now that Pacquiao's personality has become rather predictable and repetitive and he's past his prime.

GGG would be coming off the Canelo fight, making him a big star as well. And the hype of Floyd signing to fight a true KO puncher at a bigger weight would reverberate throughout the entire sports world. You might think the fight is big now, but wait until it's actually announced. They have no idea how big that fight will spread until they actually do it. It will take on a life of its own. Mayweather-Pacquiao was already marinated big before it was announced, and in fact it didn't really spread out from that point because boxing fans were actually warning people that Pacquiao was old, and it wouldn't be that great, but people still bought it based on what they hoped it would be.

This is a different animal. It might not be as well known now, but if they make that fight, boxing fans will actually be telling people to buy it. They will talking it up, not down. They will be telling everyone they know that this is the real fight of the century, the fight to end all fights, what Pacquiao-Mayweather should have been (minus the hand speed).

I just can't believe they would leave that much money on the table. That could be boxing's first ever billion dollar fight. That fight would be huge everywhere. GGG the biggest global boxing star if he beats Canelo vs Floyd the biggest American star. Best knockout fighter in boxing vs best defensive fighter. Floyd would still have the reach advantage like he always does. How can they not make that fight? I don't get it.

Jacobs was slapping shots and not really sitting on most of them and he's not as good as Canelo with counter punching skills!

Golovkin likes to take shots to deliver his own which could be his undoing and if that don't work he'll pump the jab and Canelo is one of the best at countering the jab!

Little chance of Canelo beating GGG doe, and I don't think Oscar would have any choice about letting Warren promote BJS/Lemieux. It would make more money in the UK than in the US, so Warren would have the advantage in negotiations and in a possible purse bid. If BJS has gotten his act together now, I think he would probably beat Lemieux on points.

So my forecast for the 4 belt showdown would be GGG vs BJS. The MW division has become very interesting lately!

I think if Canelo beats GGG, then this is the likely scenario. However, if the Canelo/GGG fight does something like 2.5 mil PPV's and Canelo wins, I'd expect a Floyd rematch.

I watched GGG vs Jacobs again last night. GGG won that fight with the KD and, especially, with his jab. He would have won it more convincingly if the combos he was using his jab to set up had landed, but most of the time he couldn't get them off because of Jacob's height and constant movement.

Canelo doesn't have height or movement. He might counter GGG's jab, but it's the punches that will be coming after the jab he needs to worry about!

Good post, but I digress I think that's where Canelo works best at when you throw punches at him!

He's a counter puncher by nature and Golovkin is very aggressive and isn't patient when he feels he can take your punches!

Canelo has good upper body movement he can easily just roll off the jab and when Golovkin comes with the combos, Canelo could either peek a boo then smother Golovkin's work then land inside or just counter quickly before Golovkin then take a side step or 2 steps back!

He just has to stay off the ropes and keep Golovkin in the middle of the ring and make him reset!
