As for who he beat at lightweight. Obviously, his best win is Tony Demarco. A lot of people turn their noses up at that win. But he beat Demarco whdn Tony was arguably the best lightweight in the world. And to this day, no one has dismantled Demarco the way Bronee did outside of Edwin Valero, who's one of the most talented fighters we've seen in the last decade.
Either way, my post was more about this being a good style matchup for Broner. Broner likes to walk his opponent down beating him up to the head and body. And he mixes in catch-n-shoot countering while doing it. And he's been at his best against smaller guys. Mikey is a smaller guy. Broner also likes to fight at a slow pace. He'll be able to do that against Mikey. And the biggest potential X factor is that against a smaller guy, Broner's power probably comes back into play. Broner was a big puncher as a lightweight. And he hasn't carried that up the scale. The other question is will Mikey carry his power up? Yes, he's technically better than anybody Bronee has fought. And he's technically superior to Broner. But if Mikey can't hurt Broner, he's gonna have to fight a very clean fight to win. And that's pretty tough to do against a guy that's bigger, faster, stronger, and who's pretty talented himself. They make weight classes for a reason.
