The way he been talking lately it's a lil surprising he's looking for a lesser opponent then Garcia Petersen or Porter

Are you serious? Dallas has what 7m population? Texas has 27m. If Spence was built into a Dallas or Texas draw then even if a fraction of those people now know and care about him they tune in to the Brook fight. Canelo fought exclusively in Mexico to build a rabid fanbase before coming to the US and then building here fighting close to Mexico unless it was a big fight in which case he fought in Vegas. Broner fought half his first 20 pro fights in Cincy and even today if it's not a big fight good chance it's going to be in Cincy. Golden Boy blue chip prospect Vergil Ortiz from Dallas just turned pro what 8 months ago and already has more fights in Dallas then Spence does. Golden Boy card this month at Cowboys practice facility is headlined by Cano/Maldonado a good fight but literally could be anywhere it's only there to showcase multiple Texas prospects on the card from Golden Boy stable but specifically Ortiz. No reason Haymon couldn't of done the same bringing Spence up.

Fighting against guys with bigger names in Vegas like say Thurman we can understand. But Showcase fights which Spence has had a lot of them over 20 to be exact you could of found a way to have more then 1 of them in Dallas.

Porter is the most likely opponent. Danny Garcia? Naa. Peterson may accept it. But it's hard to duck someone in your own backyard. The ducking is too obvious. Unlike in GGG's case where he's the only fighter in the stable. Ducks have instant excuses.

One isn't even a star in his own city, let alone state that's why the ratings ****** in his own country. If he was built locally in one of the biggest cities in the country if just 1/10 of sports fans in Dallas area had a reason to know or care about him that would of made a big impact on his ratings 2 weeks ago which flat out ******.

Everyone knows Spence here in Dallas.. There were theatres that broadcast the fight here and tons of fight parties.. Where did you get this "big" market for boxing in Dallas from? TX is known for the support of Hispanic fans since there are many Mexican fighters here.. Spence hasn't fought in Mexico nor does he speak Spanish to even get the support of the Hispanic fans.. Hispanics support their fighters, which is the reason that Canelo is so loved in TX and is a possibility to stage the GGG fight.. Spence is still somewhat unknown to a lot of fans seeing that he just broke out of prospect status in the past few fights.. Now that he is champion, he will get his rise in fame, especially with the known names he will add to that resume.. When you have a mid-afternoon fight on a Saturday that's on an American holiday weekend, you will tend to lose viewership.. He has brought the title back to TX, so he will get primetime slots with whomever broadcasts it and viewership will be a lot higher..

You and Motorcity have made good points, and both facts can be true at the same time. He asked you, how many fighters fight in their hometown? GGG? Canelo? Pacquiao? Mayweather? Danny Garcia? Thurman? Mikey Garcia? Yet building up Errol Spence Jr. in Dallas would've been a win-win, just like it was for Crawford and Andre Ward! Errol is humble enough (and an Olympian) to market to all of the ethnic communities in Dallas specifically, and Texas in general! I like that Errol is coming to Dallas, but don't have him fight a bum! Have him fight DSG, Matthysse, or Ponomarev!

Paq also has been matched carefully to not lose. Boxing is about money only money. Titles are worthless anymore.

He is changing the argument nobody is demanding Spence fight his big fights in Dallas or Texas but Even Canelo has his B side fights still in states close to Mexico (see Smith, Kirkland fights), Broner still has those fights in Cincy, Crawford in Omaha, ect. The question is showcase fights especially coming up as a prospect there is no reason they couldn't and can't be done in Dallas or at least the state of Texas to help Spence. Problem is now he's already a world champ and not many bums/showcase fights he will be expected to face. Still should fight in Dallas better late then never but this was either something Haymon didn't think about or is a byproduct of not having a dedicated promoter who would without a doubt would of thought about this and made it a priority coming up.

I can't argue with that. I also don't understand why Haymon didn't get promoters to establish Lara, Thurman, and Lubin in Florida! The demographics of I-4 alone should attract boxing events! Lord knows the Orlando Magic are not selling out anytime soon!

Collazo is a G and would probably take the fight in a heartbeat. I personally don't want to see him go out like that though. It would be borderline suicide fighting Spence at this stage of his career.
