Kovalev vs. Stevenson. How does a narrative change?

This sh^t ain't THAT simple. HBO was/is the Floyd of boxing to come up with an analogy people can grasp a lil better. Still are now even if its a more arguable position cuz Showtime f#cks up more than Jon Jones when they start making a nice lil run towards the goal line & PBC hasn't gotten off the ground enough to take over the #1 spot consistently enough.

So basically HBO can do what they wanna do, how they wanna do it, just like Floyd. And the truth is no one gave THAT much of a f#ck about this fight when HBO had both of the under contract or they woulda matched the offer. I mean you can only use leverage if you have leverage is the thing I don't think Stevenson grasps. People only cared about 175 cuz HBO told them to care about it. That means they also only cared about Stevenson vs Kovalev cuz HBO told them to. I'm simplifying this, but I believe this to be more or less correct. Then HBO told them to care about Ward vs Kovalev. And they do & Stevenson is no where to be found to most people that cared about Kovalev vs Stevenson 2 or whatever years ago now. Now they got a bunch of other 175lbers on the way up one of which is a solid bet to dethrone Ward &/or Kovalev in the near future to make some other fight that people care about cuz HBO makes them care about.

People underrate the things HBO does well to focus on the things they don't do well. HBO controls the narrative of fights better then anyone in boxing today on the scale they're at. That's an underestimated talent + skill that has made HBO what it is. If HBO was just "showing fights" like I'd argue Showtime & PBC do better then HBO most of the time & in particular lately then HBO wouldn't be HBO & the industry standard of what boxing should look like to appeal to the most fans possible.

I'm asking how do they go from saying one thing to saying the total opposite. I understand saying what the sources want them to say when writing the initial story. But I'm talking about going from one narrative to a whole different narrative when the facts haven't changed

Most fight fans on this site just parrot the crap they read on twitter from their favorite boxing writer, the problem is a lot of those guys are on certain promoters payrolls.
