Kovalev vs. Stevenson. How does a narrative change?

A like how Fat Dan refers to 100K as a tiny amount of money. Why didn't he use the same objective for Loma vs Walters and the initial negotiations? We had a 1Mil to 300K ratio. It was Loma, the defeated fighter, vs Walters, the undefeated fighter who's win over Donaire is about as good as Loma's win over GRJ. Therefore, wouldn't HBO's budget along with Top Rank backing it up be more like 700K/600K in favor of Loma?
''He said he turned down a lot of money'' = what was HBO's or Top Rank's Limit?
''A little bit of money'' = 100K to Fat Dan, so how does 200K more = ''a lot of money'' ??Comment

Agree it was a smart move. And you're absolutely right about boxing writers in general. Being a sports writer is probably one of the lowest form of writing in the opinion of writers. And boxing writers are probably the lowest form of sports writers I think lol.A smart move by HBO. But should make fans skeptical about boxing writers in general. You'd never see something like that happen in the four major sports. So I'm thinking what other writers are in the take but aren't disclosing it. Boxing writers don't make a lot of money and most have other jobs. It's an expensive sport to follow and cover.
Talking about Thomas Hauser. Thomas Hauser wasn't getting $4M to fight anyone.

if anyone thinks members of the boxing media are not biased the same way we are for certain fighters/subjects then they just don't pay attention.
Al Haymon does no press, Bob Arum will talk to almost anyone. Who do you think the writers would be more inclined to give good press to? Guys like Coppinger, seems to blow anyone and anything PBC/Showtime. not even sure who he works for honestly. Then you have guys like Mannix who seem to be in the middle and more professional about his views.Comment

you are a crying azz little b1tch.I've been telling the idiots this same information for some time.
It's amazing how the same usual suspects rewrite history and always accuse the black fighter of ducking, no matter how innacurate it is.
Jacobs was accused of ducking GGG, Floyd accused of ducking everyone, wilder ducked everyone, Stevenson ducked everyone, ward ducked everyone, etc.
For African American/black fighters to be some of the greatest fighters this world has ever known, they sure are attacked and accused of being cowards more than any other race or ethnicity. Funny how that works.

Mannix is nowhere in the middle. He's a PBC/Floyd/Haymon hater. Check out his podcast with Dibella. Coppinger is more pro PBC but he just got hired by Ring so it'll be interesting what he does from now on. Down the middle is a guy like Idec, Jake, and Abramson but he doesn't cover boxing anymoreif anyone thinks members of the boxing media are not biased the same way we are for certain fighters/subjects then they just don't pay attention.

Yeah like I said I can't get over this fact that Team Kovalev called for the purse bid and then ducked the bid. I couldn't care less what Adonis do with HBO or showtime that's his business. Can't blame him at all for the Kovalev fight not happening.Comment

Actually, you are trying to change the narrative. Stevenson turned down the offer for HBO to instead go with Haymon. I kinda don't blame Stevenson because it would have been a huge gamble if he would have lost to Kovalev his career would have been over.Comment
and sergey talks like he strait out of a Russian prison it wouldn't be pretty.
