Comments Thread For: Adonis Stevenson: Fonfara Didn't Take Joe Smith Seriously

The most obvious criticism of the Adonis Stevenson-Andrzej Fonfara rematch is that Stevenson could've fought the contender that knocked out Fonfara in the first round nearly a year ago. Promoters for Stevenson (Yvon Michel) and Joe Smith Jr. (Joe DeGuardia) negotiated, but couldn't come to an agreement for them to fight April 29 at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. That's among the reasons Stevenson ended up agreeing to fight Fonfara (29-4, 17 KOs, 1 NC) again Saturday night at Bell Centre in Montreal (Showtime; 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT).

i think fonfara beats joe in a rematch fairly easy

i think the version of dawson that fonfara just fought would clean joe up real nice until he got caught..if u did not watch this fight just do yourself a favor pick any round beore 6 and just watch that round...I ASSURE YOU THAT DAWSON LOOKED THAT GOOD ALL NIGHT UNTIL HE GOT CAUGHT...i compared wat he was doing to rigo/sweet pea...he stands 6 foot, but his defense was dropping low to like 3 feet tall..his reflexes were sharp af

now as to what stevenson said...i 100% agree just about...i think he was ready for joe tho...he just got caught while he thought he had joe hurt....but other than that he's training hard af knowing this is his last shot and knowing that his opponent is 40 years old.

ADONIS GETS EVERYONE'S BEST..just look how determined thomas williams jr was.

I think Joe beats him 9 out 10 times. Smith had power, range and technique. Plus you can't teach your chin to absorb punches

fonfara at least doesnt give up, stevenson is more skilled but his age, and lake of activerty and in the past 2-3 years he hasnt had many rounds, bika didn't try, karpency was knocked out fast, karpency is a great test for up and coming fighters, but not champions.. Edwin rodriquez vs williams jr was for the rights to face stevenson and was clear that stevenson could knock them both out. Fonfara is stevenson best fight since... he last fought fonfara and won 10 rounds. stevenson was winning a round, was dropped and fonfara did nothing with a tiring stevenson.

This fight should of been done years ago. Fonfara is done. He's always been a decent fighter..not a bum but its been a few years and its not like he's gotten better.

so smith who was hurt badly in round 1 makes it out of that 9 out of 10 times? fonfara has one mistake to correct..keep the hand up while it's not being thrown..easy

u just said smith has range on the 6'3 fonfara?? and fonfara hs way more technique as well

You going to pretend Smith didn't knock the **** out of Fonfara in front of a bipartisan crowd?.

The ducking list keeps getting longer for Superman. Kov, Ward, Hopkins, Smith, next up to duck will be the Ukraine guy. Of course Stevenson will say that it's Haymon fault.
