He could just end up being a sub too. From my understanding with how it works he could only get directly in the tournament via one of the 2 wildcard spots or be one of the 8 subs who obviously may or may not get an opportunity to fight. Which seems like a lot of f#cking subs for a 8 man tournament btw but thats what they are saying so you could in theory have a whole different tournament then the one initially setup if everyone got hurt pre tournament.

But it actually might not be a bad idea for Kessler to aim for a sub spot cuz he'll be able to fight on the WBSS cards & likely work off some rust & be ready to jump in late for a fight or two to get some more glory in his career. Idk that Kessler should be loving the idea of having 3 fights in a 8 or 9 month period at his age vs the caliber of fighter that could end up in this tournament. He might end up being one of the guys getting subbed out even if he were to win with that sorta turnaround cuz getting older kinda sucks.

You think he can still make 168? I guess with the money involved and the tournament he will, but feels like it will be incredibly hard and he might miss it by a a couple of lbs.

I dislike catchweights 99% of the time but if Sauerland did Kessler-Groves at 172 or something that could be interesting. If MK still has enough left that is. A tournament involving 3 hard fights in a row just seems too much for any past-prime/late 30s fighter.

I didnt know they had that many subs planned. I guess its a lesson learned from the supersix that dragged on way longer than intended and both Taylor and Kessler had to drop out due to injuries.

He can definetely make 168. Maybe 164 for GGG if needed.

Kessler should try and get the groves fight.

VERY winnable fight for him despite the inactivity.
