  • Comments Thread For: Chris Shiflett A Foo Fighter's Love Affair with Boxing

By Thomas Gerbasi - All it took was one boxing class, and Chris Shiflett was hooked. But once the solo artist and guitarist for the Foo Fighters was in, just working out wasn't enough. "I loved the workout, but once I started doing the workout, I got kind of obsessed with the sport and just started following it." You know what happened next. A couple White Collar Boxing fights, then Shiflett wanted to test himself on the amateur scene...

So he was proud of a strategy that seemed to work against a fighter who was able to determine this guy was one-dimensional, then proceeded to get schooled in the sweet science - didn't listen to corner advice.

    Sounds like Manny.

"You see a guy in the gym who looks like the greatest fighter ever, and then you see him on the low end of a fight card on ESPN2 or something, and he just gets destroyed. And it’s real clear how the real committed athletes that dedicate their lives to boxing, that’s a whole other thing that I was never going to be a part of.”
          Great quote.

That's how I got hooked, doing boxing workouts just to stay in shape led to me wanting to try throwing punches for real.

Never listened to a single Foo Fighters album, though.

If Canelo loses to GGG this is probably his comeback opponent.

¿Never seen Canelo hurt? Watch the first round against Jose Cotto (Miguel Cotto's brother)Canelo got rocked by a left hook & was on shaky legs for a moment..

His comments about Canelo-GGG were spot on. I am a Canelo fan obviously but the truth is that GGG is too big and strong for him, skill wise they are both as good. Both are p4p material. That eing said, a good match up for GGG would be Zurdo Rmírez, now that´s a good test.
