There isnt a difference, people can appreciate peoples talent at something and still be racist towards them. Like Pascal said "Even racist whites in the south were listening to Ray Charles." besides that it should be obvious from everything up until now he doesnt respect Jackson.

He's been on their team years now, yes there's discontent now, there is with every undefeated fighter when they take the first L, why does it need to be a race thing. I'm mixed black/white, and sick to *** people trying to make everything about race.. So would you say there wouldn't be discontent in kovs camp if it was a white American trainer in there?

Hiring a head trainer is essentially choosing your boss, someone who is going to rule your life when in training. it's very very different to people in the south listening to Ray Charles music ffs.

Its clear tension between JDJ and KKK tho. JdJ kinda eluded to it to Dante Boxing Nation but he didnt detail anything but he did mention something about not being treated right or feeling uncomfortable in the KKK camp

For the sake of sanity come fight night, and no fights breaking out, I hope this "KKKovalev" bull**** does not keep getting repeated and spread, otherwise the narrative leading up to the fight is going to be really ugly, and possibly after the fight. It's a lot worse than I thought. It's weird because "Kovalev won" and got "robbed", why get rid of the trainer who helped you "win"? Trainer-switching is a sign of lack of confidence in a fighter. Trying to put the blame on everyone else but himself. Team Ward did good on not that accepting Jackson in the team and the explanation as to why makes sense.

By the way people keep posting that quote where Kovalev said some American trainers think they're great, but really all they know how to do is work pads, as proof that Kovalev is racist or something, but has anyone ever stopped to ask, "what if he's right?" Who else has JDJ trained besides Kovalev? How do you know, besides Kovalev being good, that JDJ is a great trainer?

JDJ was a great BOXER in the 1980s. Training methods have evolved a lot since then, how do you know JDJ is educated about all that? Kovalev grew up in the Russian system, isn't it possible he could have had some sort of Soviet boxing guru like Lomachenko's dad who taught him expertly, and now these old school American trainers like JDJ really do seem basic to him? How do you know that's not the case? Just look how well schooled Kovalev is, you think he became that way in Russia by having bad training? It's quite possible he had great schooling in Russia and the training he's gotten in America simply is not at the same level. Maybe he really is smarter than the trainers he's basically been assigned in America based on location, like Abel and JDJ. Golovkin was already elite before he got to Abel. Abel just crafted a more aggressive style, but GGG was already a gold-medal caliber Olympic boxer before training with Abel, and that's without having elite speed so you know he wad to be well schooled. He didn't have elite speed, the big gloves and headgear muted his elite power, and yet he still had that success in the amateurs? I mean he must have been VERY well schooled long before Abel.

Plus, most of you guys talking **** about Kovalev also hate GGG, and by extension the man who talks up GGG more than anyone, Abel Sanchez. So while I know you take it personally when Kovalev insinuates a black trainer, JDJ, doesn't know what he's doing, I bet you would be very quick to support the idea with Abel Sanchez. So how do you know it's not true with both?

I mean, I have no inside knowledge, but I can at least see this possibility. Maybe Kovalev just learned from the best back in Russia, whoever his coaches were growing up, and maybe he's just smart enough to tell that both Abel and JDJ are overrated, and can't teach him much that wasn't already better taught to him in Russia, so he prefers to just train the way he was taught growing up, and essentially train himself. Does that make him such an a**hole?

I mean maybe he is! It's possible. I certainly think Abel has done great with GGG, but again GGG was already great. I'm just saying, this is another possibility, one most of you have not considered due to your own biases. The truth is many black boxing fans hate Kovalev, and hate the idea that there could be a great white champion who also, they think, hates black people, so it's been obvious for awhile that some of these fans have tried to rationalize it by telling themselves, "well yeah he's white and yeah he's great, but he shouldn't really count as white because he's not an American white! IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!! Plus, he's only good because he has a black trainer who taught him everything!" Therefore the idea that Kovalev could actually be great only because of himself and Russian trainers, and that he may not even listen to his black trainer and may actually know the sweet science better than his black trainer, really bothers these people.

Again, I'm not even saying that's true. I'm just saying it's a possibility, but I understand why I've seen hundreds of posts crediting JDJ for his success, and criticizing Kovalev for not listening to him, and zero entertaining the possibility that JDJ is overrated, and that Kovalev could have good reason for sticking with what he learned in Russia. There is bias out there, that's for sure. What the truth is, we're not privy right to now, just different people talking, but there is bias out there that is coloring the narrative here, that is a fact.

Interesting perspective. If that is true though I wonder why Kovalev doesn't want to challenge himself and self improve by hiring a coach whom he'd respect. That would have brought him on a next level. There are many reasons why this may be happening and without an inside info it's really all a speculation. But in a way it even reminds me Klitschko- Banks tandem. Wlad has more experience than Banks and I never got the feeling he actually listens to Banks. Until the AJ fight that is, even Banks emphasized how Klitschko would listen this time and do things right. Anyway...if true JDJ loses big time in the respect department and Prince...well I wouldn't expect anything other than backstabbing everyone around this sleazy degenerate.
