True statement. Obviously GGG is p4p 1, but since he isn't American, he doesn't qualify in this context.

The bigger question has become, Where was Santa Cruz born?

It's clearly Mexico. If anyone hears him speak they can clearly tell he wasn't born in Mexico. I think he also gave an interview about coming to America.

Whatever though. For a country with the largest boxing population on the planet they barely have 4 fighters that are truly world class.

I think so too. Everything I saw seems to suggest he was born in Mexico and they emigrated when he was young. Doesn't really matter to me, just gave me something to look up.

It's up to interpretation i suppose, he was raised in America but may have been born in mexico. if thats the case he would be mexican-american, which still makes him american. he was an amateur here, was educated here, and speaks english well albeit with a mexican accent. i dont put too much stock into that btw, here in texas there are plenty of folks born and raised in the U.S but have thick mexican accents. it has more to do with the fact that his parents spoke entirely spanish, so he probably learned spanish before english even though he lived in the U.S.

You were factually incorrect, just admit it. There is no such thing as MexicaN-American or any other - American. The US does not allow dual nationalities.

He is not an American fighter.

Raised in America. Educated in America. Possibly even born in America (there are conflicting sources on that). Sounds american to me, which is why i included him in this list. If he's been raised in America his whole life, regardless if he was even born here or not, he's still American.
