Comments Thread For: Brook Quit Vs. Spence Because He Was Worried He'd Go Blind

As much as Kell Brook wanted to keep fighting Saturday night, he remembered what his surgeon told him following his last fight. Dr. Mohammed Ali, who repaired Brook's broken right orbital bone following his fifth-round technical knockout loss to Gennady Golovkin, told Brook he could've gone blind in his right eye had he continued in that fight. Once Brook sensed he had suffered a similar injury against Errol Spence Jr., this time around his left eye, he knew he had to quit in their IBF welterweight title fight in Sheffield, England.

Dude knew he was behind and couldn't win without a KO or multiple knock downs which being realistic was never gonna happen as he wasn't facing his usual list of crap opposition. He quit because he knew their was no reason for him to endure a further beating and go out on his back.

He could have shown spirit and heart but here he is trying to save face.

I fault no fighter for quitting if permanent loss of vision is possible. I love boxing, but it's still a sport, not real life.

Fighting 4 rounds with a broken eye socket (again) is not showing spirit and heart?

I know you hate brits with a passion, but you come across like a weird little person.

I see a lot of people trying to take credit away from Spence by saying how bad Brook is now. that's boxing for you. Claim that Spence is too inexperienced and going to get whooped, but change the narrative when he shows he's the real deal. People are even saying that Brook would have won if he hadn't already fought GGG. Brook did well to stop and go on to fight another day. Considering that he was down on all 3 scorecards at that point, it's silly to think he would have won if he would have lasted all 12. Spence broke him down and justified some of the excitement around him. The GGG fight isn't why his other eye socket got crushed in this fight. Spence is. Tie to start giving boxers their due when they rise to the occasion.

Or he quit because of exactly what this article says. Seems a bit more likely to me. Especially when he rallied in round 10 and pushed Spence back.

The guy nearly had an eye permanently damaged in his last fight, had a surgeon try and convince him to never box again and then received the same injury in the very next fight. I think it's pretty obvious he is telling the truth.

I still have NOT seen any proof that there was a fracture at all other than Brook's own statement.

Anyone have a link with any actual proof other than Brook's statement?

I have lost all respect for Brook. He is pulling a Paciaqou. If you lost just man up and say you lost. Don't take away from Spence's huge win by blaming your eye. How does he think his eye got that way? Spence said before the fight to not make excuses when he loses and it's sad that post fight here we are and Brook was made to quit and is now making excuses. Why didn't Brook protect his face or dodge those punches? What's his excuse for that? Some people just can't man up and say I LOST. Screw Brook and every other fighter like him.

Is the eye socket broken ? You're aware it is not the same eye GGG damaged too right.
