You are correct in the sense that they dont have to retire , but unlike Cotto who fights whoever he wants and no one cares as it has 0 effect on the boxing scene , Pac has a major title , he is holding it hostage from the young talents , he is holding the division back , he can fight whoever he wants (like Floyd can and does) but i think he should give up the belt , he is no longer at the pinnacle of the sport as you said , so he should not be holding and defending the majors belts , let the young guard take over and give us the good fights .
Of course its what I want as a boxing fan , but Pac has his own agenda which is to maximize earnings with low risk, but I can say YOU are not a boxing fan if you think that what pac is doing is great for boxing.

I love Manny and indeed he is never in a boring fight (from action POV) but Alegiri was boring because it was one sided and this jeff hornasek fight is going to be one sided , just fighting young fighters is not enough they need to be GOOD , you are entitled to your own opinion but calling ppl not boxing fans because they dont see eye 2 eye to your pov is BS , as a BIG manny fan and a boxing fan i dont see how you can say that the horn fight is any good and how you dont see that Manny is holding the belt hostage , the belt are meaning less when you are Canelo/Manny/Floyd but when you are an up and comer its everything , its your ticket to the big leagues and big fights and big paydays.

Every fighter you mentioned with the exception of Khan was tied up already. Manny wanted to make the Khan fight but as you know, the money just wasn't there and the Australia fight is paying well for just as risky of a fight in my opinion. Khan is a name only at this stage. As long as we both agree that Horn is not a good fight and Manny can do better , we are saying the same thing , seeing the greats having their farewell tour is fun but i think Manny can still compete at the elite level which is what makes me feel they are wasting some good fight for him , Cotto for example is shot , he won't be winning any fights vs good opponents anymore.
Lets see whats going down after the Horn fight , if Pac fights the next great barzilian boxer then its over for Pac , still hoping he takes one more great fight before he hangs them up.
