If your corner stops the fight or throws in the towel, it is not the same as quitting. In some of the cases you mentioned, the corner stopped the fight, not the fighter.
Some cases of quitting:
-Oscar De La Hoya quit against Manny Pacquiao. De La Hoya made the decision to stop the fight, not his corner.
-Kostya Tyszu quit against Ricky Hatton. He made the decision to stop the fight.
-Victor Ortiz quit against four or five opponents, including faking a beatdown against Mayweather.
Acelino Freitas quite against Diego Corrales and Juan Diaz in the middle of the rounds.
Roberto Duran walked away from Sugar Ray Leonard saying, "No Mas. No Mas."
Vitali Klithscko made the decision to quit on his stool against Chris Byrd due to his injured shoulder (total bulls...t).
Mayweather fought Oscar De La Hoya in May 2007 and Ricky Hatton on 12/8/2007. Are you complaining because he didn't fight someone else before Christmas?
He came back in September 2009. He took 1 year and 9 months off. So please tell us who he should have fought in 21 month span: Miguel Cotto - whose team turned down a Mayweather fight at 140, Antonio Margarito, who was KO'd in 2010 by the guy (Shane Mosley) that Mayweather beat in May 2010 and who (Mosley) turned down a fight with Mayweather in 2007; Kermit Cintron, a journeyman who was KO by the cheating Margarito;, or Manny Pacquiao, who was fighting at 122 in 2008?
