He is just saying what everyone can see which is that he is fighting purely for money right now. He's got his fame and accolades he's stamped for the hall of fame. Only fights he will take are ones he knows he can win or where the money makes up for the risk.

Kamegai has been in 2 separate fight of the year candidates. But he is a one dimensional slugger only was chosen because of politics. He was a top 10 ranked fighter for WBO who gave cotto a top ranking after his loss to canelo. They begging him to take their belt and you needed to work with golden boy to vacate the 154 belt held by canelo so cotto could fight for it. So sign with golden boy so they vacate the belt work with WBO get this title and then cash out your next fight. Kamagai is a means to an end. No shot Cotto fights trout or Lara. He going to fight marquez, canelo, etc. Whoever brings the most money.
