actually there are a lot of parallels....

hernandez had only lost to oscar, in year 11 of his 14 year career, and was 32 when he lost to floyd.

brook has only lost to ggg, in year 12 of his 13 year career, and will be 32 when he loses to spence.

if you consider brook "prime," then fair to say genaro was "prime" also...or is it different because it was floyd?

Hernandez was not the same caliber fighter as Brook. Brook lost by stepping up two weight classes to fight the best MW in his prime. Hernandez lost moving up one weight class against a still young DLH not yet in his prime.

Brook is a big WW, and will not be an easy fight for Spence. I applaud Spence for going after one of the top 3 welters and not wasting any time looking for his next challenge. If Spence wins he will defend his title against a talent rich division, unlike Floyd who defended his title after Hernandez against a long string of no-hopers until he finally fought Corrales.

what does any of that have to do with the comparisons of their first title fight? hernandez dwarfed mayweather in the ring. as as far comparing "calibers" of the two fighters, that's open to interpretation, as the only big victory in kell's career is against shawn porter. we won't know how good brook is until after saturday.

I picked Brook but I'm really starting to like Erroll. If he wins I won't be mad.

It has everything to do with it...Brook is a P4P better and more dangerous fighter than Hernandez. Hernandez was only a couple inches taller than Floyd, but not massive. Floyd also had a significant youth advantage and was fighting a guy whose style was tailor made for him.

He seems level headed to be honest.

I think spence is good- I just don't see him being able to hurt kell the way he hurt algieri.

Kell is legit 154, could probably go to 160 no problem

I think you're underrating hernandez, and overrating brook here.

you're also underrating what mayweather was able to accomplish at the age of 21.

as far as brook being "more dangerous," we haven't seen it, and won't know until after saturday. brook is a big ww, but he's smaller than spence, hernandez was definitely bigger than floyd, and was a lineal champ while brook holds is a belt-holder. as far as the youth advantage floyd had, many other people called it inexperience, which is why fewer people thought he'd beat hernandez, than people who think errol beats brook.
