Should have been a no contest from the start, the punch was a split second after the bell and it was part of a combination that started before the bell. Dirrell really pulled this crap again, that's twice he's faked his way out of a tough fight and he was losing this time. I hope the IBF do the right thing and at the very least order a rematch cause Dirrell doesn't deserve the title shot off of that BS. That whole episode was disgraceful.

It's funny how there are some fans that just started watching boxing Saturday night, acting like the DQ was warranted. How many fights have we all seen where punches are thrown AT the bell and continue? And how many rounds have gone just a tad bit longer after the bell because the fighters didn't hear the ring, so the ref had to step in to stop the action? This is so common in boxing and some of these "fans" are acting like it's the first time they've seen that happen. GTFOH!
Fighters are taught and advised by the ref in the dressing room, before the 1st round, to protect yourself at all times! That is just simply boxing fundamentals from the beginning! And here we have posters defending the shameful action by Dirrell and his team. What utter disgraces they are for the act they pulled Saturday night. I hope to never see them again on TV and if they are shown, I hope their shameful display hangs over their heads for the entirety of their career and beyond.Comment

You don't get to hit a guy in the balls then excuse it because "it was part of a combination, doe."
Illegal is illegal.
And Uzcategui had already been warned once for this infraction already.
That punch came late and the result was severe enough that it would have affected the fight from then on had it been allowed to continue. Uzcategui has no one to blame but himself for the DQ.Comment

NC is the right call wasnt tremendously after the bell it was in a sequence that landed right at the end of the bell.Comment

No DQ necessary. A low blow is the direction of the punch, of which the fighter is wholly aware. The timing of a punch during the round is a different matter. There is no timer in your head, and the referee does not automatically appear in between the fighters at the first sound of the bell. His body was in motion before the bell sounded, and it physically could not have been stopped. Try watching the fight on DVR, close your eyes, and hit pause when you hear the bell. You will see, on the screen, the punch connected. If you cannot stop a punch with a pause button, how is Jose supposed to stop a real punch in motion, that is body is in the midst of throwing?Comment

you couldnt be more wrong. It is ABSOLUTELY the referee's job to determine intent. That is why there are "intentional" fouls, and "unintentional" fouls, and its up to the referee to determine the violators intent.
This was an unintentional foul, in the midst of a combo, and the ref should have given Dirrell 5 minutes to recover and the fight goes on. Dirrell was fine, and told the ref he was ok, and then his corner starts yelling "lay down lay down!!!" and he goes into one of those con jobs like when someone bumps into a stopped car and then falls down like they got hit at 80mph. It was absurd......Comment
