By this logic, every fighter should wait until a second left in the round and fire off a 3 to 4 punch combo. It's not the referees job to adjudicate intent. If you hit a fighter low after a warning...you get a point deduction; intentional or not. It's unfortunate in this situation because the kid was coming on in that round and just needed 1 more tick on the clock.

you couldnt be more wrong. It is ABSOLUTELY the referee's job to determine intent. That is why there are "intentional" fouls, and "unintentional" fouls, and its up to the referee to determine the violators intent.

This was an unintentional foul, in the midst of a combo, and the ref should have given Dirrell 5 minutes to recover and the fight goes on. Dirrell was fine, and told the ref he was ok, and then his corner starts yelling "lay down lay down!!!" and he goes into one of those con jobs like when someone bumps into a stopped car and then falls down like they got hit at 80mph. It was absurd......

But the DQ was deserved, he landed that punch after the bell and had already received a warning earlier for another punch that also landed late. Can't be fighting dirty like that.

you crazy...he was throwing combination and the last punch was set to go out of instinct and practice at the heat of the moment, DQ was an overreaction...plus protect yourself at all times is common knowledge because of situations like that..GTFOH with that wimpy BS

It was a legitimate KD even when I watched it real time, even Andre thought so.

Damn!!! Couldn't say it better my self. If the ref. thought it was that n ad he should of taken points off and let the DOCTORS do there JOB and look at Dirrell. I lost ALL respect for for this QUITTER/Flopper

I have to say a N/C is about the fairest outcome all round.

Giving Dirrell the win is just an insult to be honest - the dude just cheated.

Pretty shabby affair all around, the referee was very shady IMO.
