Hmmmm yet he was against the PBC model. Wonder if anyone will pick up on the message. Bob Arum is about maximizing profit for Top Rank. I'm sure HBO has told him, bring us Pacquiao Crawford or settle for our cheapest network fee. Army has one of the best p4p fighters in the world but can't make a star out of him because he refuses to match him with anybody whose promoter will want a legitimate share of the promotional money. Can't have it all Bob.

I think Bob & HBO don't get along like they used to since Nelson has been helming things. Cuz I mean come on everyone who knows anything about boxing knew that Oscar Valdez vs Marriaga fight was gonna be a fun fight so HBO not picking that up suggests this is bigger than "TV networks clamping down".
I think Bob is one of the smartest guys in the room with boxing sh^t so this outburst is saying more than he's saying. To that end I think Bob is looking to do some game flipping of his own & perhaps make a move towards the way we all know this entertainment viewing is going & thats cutting the cord & talking to someone in the streaming world. This time next year we might be talking about Top Rank Sunday Night Fights on Amazon or some such sh^t like that.Comment

Idk what they are looking to do. I haven't heard anything conclusive about what exactly is going on. But I know necessity is the mother of invention & with Nelson & Bob not being best buds & Bob not likely to have many Showtime dates with Haymon all on top of Showtime + that TruTV deal dead in the water he needs to make a move to something new.
Personally I'm excited on whatever it ends up being, cuz boxing needs about 7 monkey wrenches thrown into the engine of boxing & how it currently works so anyone Haymon, Arum, f#cking whoever is running Osama Bin Liden's group trying to change the boxing game I'm for all day every day.Comment

Isn't that almost everyone's goal in business, if there smart anyway? As many problems as I have with Arum, I think he's probably the guy running his promotional most likely one should run a promotion.
The problem with boxing isn't Arum or any of the promoters per se. Its the fact that boxing works in a way to give promoters so much power. Ideally boxing should work like every other f#cking sport in the world with a goal towards bringing entertainment to fans at the highest level as often as possible. Most sports are a machine spitting out failed, old, just not good enough anymore athletes every single daywith the caliber of competition & entertainment thats required. Yet in boxing its less about the fights & more about each promotions names cuz all these promoters are like there own lil NFL.
To take the NFL for an example they put together this universe of the top 1,700 football players in the world spread out among teams in an effort to keep things as even as possible with salary caps, higher draft picks for poor teams & various other things. This keeps the machine churning out iron sharpening iron & in the US entertaining more sports fans than any other sport for a few decades at this point.
Boxing on the other hand has about a dozen major promoters who might have 3 or 4 top guys in any one division if they are lucky. And you can't just risk the value of each of those guys cuz 1 L kills your value for that big show or big PPV down the line so there isn't any upside to your risk taking with working towards other promoters as often as competition should dictate there should be. Boxing needs a central organization thats thinking about & pushing forward the sport of boxing not any particular fighter.

Good fight for Mikey. LOL not so much for Broner. Mikey making some great decisions on his comeback. He cleared his head & thought long game like a mfer in his time off I bet.
Wouldn't be surprised if Mikey takes Broner out which is gonna look really good & probably take Mikey to the highest popularity level of his career.Comment

No clue whatcha mean saying "this is what happens when you sign with Haymon".
But Haymon for sure isn't done with Broner even if he becomes a top 20ish guy with a name (& you could probably argue thats what he basically & how he fights like already despite most ranking him higher still). Haymon deals with all kinds of cats at all levels of the game. One the guys he signed as an amateur lost a fight this weekend so kid is 4-1 now, but I guarantee you Haymon won't drop him or be done with him either unless that dude specifically wants to be done. Haymon just doesn't seem to operate like that.Comment
