I was arrested and JAILED once, for unPaid speeding tickets, in NJ, for crying out loud. Speeding tickets. I honestly thought they would have more important things to worry about but I had to get my wife to come post Bail. I Learned my lesson....first choice is not to get a ticket, but if I do, Pay it right away.
Ny to nj is one thing they are neighboring states, a trooper can drive to get you. I had an arrest warrant for speeding in southern Illinois (I live in Chicago) and was pulled over and the precinct said they wouldn't drive 6 hours to get me. It takes a state trooper to leave md to go all the way to Michigan to arrest him. Nobody is taking that trip unless he is already in custody. If he doesn't get arrested then he should be ok until he decides to turn himself in, if he does. Otherwise it will be an unserved arrest warrant that has a statute of limitations.

Um, this is a national TV case now. He can get stopped for missing a stop sign, heck, a Michigan cop who wants to make a name for himself, can easily find him and "stop" him for any reason. trust me, they'll "find" a reason. Ya, NJ/NY are neighboring states, but this dude I Knew, was transported many counties away, way the **** up in upstate NY somewhere, if I recall correctly. Then someone had to drive the **** up there to bail his ass out. He still had to go to court and ended up plea bargaining and Paying A Fine, for harassment, I think.
I remember, I had UNPAID tickets from like 10 Years back, when I got pulled over for something silly, back in NJ 1 Time. I too, thought since I had a NY license, and the warrants were from NJ 10 years Ago, that I was home free. Wrong. Those warrants never go away. Cop was like, unless u have $5000 Cash in your pocket, you're going to county jail, in Morris county (the other end of the ***ing state, LOL), until u have That Cash. I didnt carry $5 G's on me, I offered to go to ATM's, use my CC, whatever it took, but no dice. I had to go sit in county for Almost A Full Day, while my wife had to bring down Cash. Then the jail were being d!cks (since I had so many different warrants-completely my fault for being a **** and not taking care of it), so the jail demanded Exact Change, in Exact Denominations for each warrant ($247 for this 1, $218 for that one, $283 for another, Etc...no Round Numbers!), and they didnt make Change, they wanted Exact Payment for each.
My poor wife had to go to a local bank and beg them to make The exact Denomination Change to put into 10 different envelopes to hand to the jailer before I could get out (they were being d1cks, but I deserved it). I Learned my lesson, Paid off every ticket, and now, on the rare occasion I get 1, I Pay it right away. I made sure I will never have a warrant, again.
Point is, these things never really go away. U can run, but u can't hide.

Damn...like I said before, I hope that sucker punch was worth it. Because even absolute best case scenario dude is looking at hours and hours of community service, a bunch of fines, and he'll never be in a corner again for a sanctioned fight.

Worst case scenario he'll do legitimate time in prison. I mean even if it's just one year -- think about spending one of the prime years of your life in a prison cell because you couldn't resist the urge of retribution...retribution that lasted but all of one second

Right on. Ya, even if he gets 1 Year in jail, I'd be satisfied. Give him something!
