                                    MGM NATIONAL HARBOR, MD - WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. (28-1, 17 KOs) stopped mandatory challenger Oscar Escandon (25-3, 17 KOs) in the seventh round. Russell's fast hands were on display in the very first round. He was pawing with the jab, stood in the pocket and was throwing big shots. Escandon was looking for the body and wasn't as concerned with the head. Russell was connected with a lot of uppercuts at close range.
