It really depends on HOW the win was achieved. TS is right.

No. Let's not make out he's something he's not though.
For me, p4p is all about what you have done lately and what is your current level as can be gauged and proven by your recent performances. It is not some lifelong career achievement award, but who is operating at the highest level right now.

I am talking about a dominant win over Canelo, who is widely considered top 10 p4p. That would eclipse even the impressive dominations of Russell and Walters by Lomachenko. It would easily outpace anything Crawford has on his resume.

Ward unquestionably has the best resume in boxing over the course of his career, and Kovalev is the best recent win among any of the guys at top. The problem is that it was a gift (still a good performance to make it competitive). A dominant win over Canelo would be more impressive to me than a gift over Kovalev.

In the mean time. A clear win for Ward in the rematch with Kovalev, or a dominant win by Kov would put either of them at the top more solidly. Lomachenko is the best fighter in boxing, but he is gonna need some big wins to prove it and cement himself at the top. Crawford also an excellent fighter, but he badly needs to get some big names in the ring.

I'm not a GGG fanboy. I regard him far higher than you I can see (you seem to underrate his skills massively), but I don't consider him the most talented and certainly not the most accomplished. I have him around # 5 p4p. I also think he may be starting to slip at 35. That being said, let's say he batters and stops Canelo. That would make a strong case.

Arguably GGG just lost his last fight too, a win over Canelo won't convince anyone his lack of skill that has eluded him in his last two fights is no longer there.

Like it or not Ward is simply more versatile than GGG, as proven by facing the best in several divisions.
        who has kovalev actually beat?

I didn't think it would take long for the ' I can't bare another black man on top of the sport again movement' to begin to question how good Kovalev actually was.

Kovalev is universally respected, even by Ward supporters. Clearly you're neither a fan of either of the above and just have your agenda against Ward for whatever reason or bigoted view you have.

To answer the question Kovalev crushed everything in front of him until he met Andre Ward and he got a tough lesson in that Ward can hit back and refused to wilt. Show me anyone else who did what Krusher did to the opposition he had fought, I have all evening...

im a big fan of kovalev but his CV is actually pretty thin when you think about it. never understood why that fight was put on such a pedestal and i said that before the fight. and he wasnt universally respected until ward beat him lol, i remember lots of people were saying he was exposed by chilemba. lots of people thought it would be a near on shut out for ward or kovalev would land a big shot. pretty much got given a punchers chance.

If Ward stops Kovalev or clearly beats him winning 9 clear rounds or more then yes, you can make a case for him being p4p number 1.

But neither of those scenarios are likely. Therefore, as much as it hurts you all. GGG will be universally recognised as the best in the world pound for pound after knocking out Canelo.
If only it could be, but the haters are all ready with their toolbox of excuses. "Canelo never really fought @ 160 doe. Golovkin should have fought him @ Canelo's 155 cw before doe. Golovkin a juicer doe." They might even be lame enough to say that Canelo fought GGG too soon after fighting Chavez!

I agree to what you said except the bold.. the same can be said of Ward too..

Point in case is beating Canelo won't make GGG #1, but by beating GGG Canelo moves to top 3..

So reading between the lines you've accepted the defeat now but you're running with Kovalev wasnt really that good to begin with and Canelo is far more talented and a higher ppv fighter followed by a defeat loss to GGG that will make the Korean/Mongol/Kazakh or whatever ever the hell he is half breed the number one ? He's whiter than Ward in short so you'll be happier.

Do you think you could find it in yourself to accept Ward is actually half white due to his father being white American or is this just an anti American resentment you carry around with yourself and the rest of your fa.ggot **** buddies ?

Wins over Canelo and Jacobs in a calendar year puts him as the foty at the very least. You can also make the argument for p4p.
