Comments Thread For: Tony Yoka Pro Debut is Set, June 2 in France

PARIS - French Olympian and 2016 super heavyweight gold medalist Tony Yoka will make his highly-anticipated pro debut on Friday, June 2 as he faces unbeaten Travis Clark (12-0, 8 KOs) from Le Dome - Palais Des Sports de Paris and live in France on Canal Plus at 7:30 p.m. CET. "I can't wait to step into the ring for the first time as a professional in front of all my fans in Paris," said Yoka. "This is a dream come true, but it's also just the first step. I've been improving every day in the gym with Virgil Hunter and I can't wait to show everybody what I've got. I know that my team is going to put me into the positions that I want, so it's up to me to deliver in the ring. It all starts on June 2 and you don't want to miss it."

Another potential up and comer in the HW division and it appears they are planning to fast track him!

Yeah always good to add new blood to the division. He is fighting some guy with a 12-0 record in his debut. Clark has fought low level competition but had fought in a couple 10 round fights. He's 38 & is Boxrec #101. Yoka has the amateur pedigree & he size. At 6'7 & a 82" reach makes him similar in size to Wilder. I will be watching. Dubois & now Yoka. A couple of good young prospects to watch.

Yep, Joe Joyce should be debuting soon as well (although he's a bit older). Gotta think Okolie will move up to HW sooner rather than later too.

I can't believe Tony Yoka won the Gold Medal, proves anything is possible really. He's come a long way since getting iced by Erislandy Savon with that picture perfect left hook.

He was gifted the gold. 3 out of his 4 fights were fixed.
