Golden boy the top promoter, making the most money even though Slime Richard Shafer and El Gayman took most of his boxers.

Careful, Oscar. Don't toot your own horn too loudly. If your boy loses to Golovkin, it could get rough.

People can hate on Oscar all they want to but the fact of the matter is his company has had a strong first 5 months.

From the ESPN deal he got his company, to the Vargas vs Berchelt card, signing Corrales and Gamboa, Canelo vs Chavez Jr pay per view.

Top that off with GGG vs Canelo in September. Golden Boy Promotions has had a strong year thus far. As long as they keep putting quality fights on ESPN and hopefully get a fight card or two on HBO before GGG vs Canelo they will continue building momentum to a successful year.

Golden Boy has fighters in ESPN top 10 rankings in 140, 147 with Matthyssee and Orozco you are also IGNORING Middleweight where they have 2 of the top 4 guys as well as tons of other weight classes where they are deep like 130, 135, 126, ect. If Lemieux moves up he's in the mix at 168. Shabbranskyy was top 10 at 175 he's one win away from rejoining that list. Their real blind spot is heavyweight. Every other weight class they have talent and loads of top prospects on the rise.

Golden Boy has been putting on garbage fights on PPV showcasing their only fighter. Other promoters have put on far better fights this year that were quality fights. What quality fight has GB put on? They threw in a damaged Vargas against Berchelt to make their only quality fight in awhile. Their last PPV were all mismatches. Canelo hasn't faced a quality opponent in 3 years since Lara, unless you count a passed it Cotto. September will answer a lot of questions about Canelo and GB for the future

ESPN deal is OK but for some reason a lot of writers have yet to release any ratings for those shows, kinda odd when they couldn't wait to bash any PBC show. Corrales and Gamboa have yet to do anything for them but fight tune ups. Their top PPV Canelo/Chavez was a mismatch that was as much of a dud as the Manny/Floyd fight. The Berchelt/Vargas was their best showing this year and it only cost them Vargas for who knows how long.
Hate on PBC/Showtime all you want but they have been delivering the best shows and fights all this year with more still to come.

I remember 3 years ago when EVERYONE said the ship would sink without that rat Schaefer who handed all Golden Boy fighters to Haymon. Well how about them apples. Booted Schaefer out. Start of 2015 they had a roster of about a couple dozen fights after losing so many guys. They took the money from Haymon settlement and money they make from Canelo fights and reinvested in young fighters. They restocked their entire roster going after top prospects, olympians ect. Look at roster today just off their own website got about 90 fighters now. And probably the deepest stable of top fighters under 24 years age of any promotion.

Their issue has been trying to buy time where they can get their young fighters they been signing developed fast enough to create the next wave. They were top heavy with Canelo and loaded with top young talent but it's that in between with established vets they were lacking with only a few guys after the Haymon split. They are in the process of turning guys over their roster from contenders to champs Orozco, JoJo, Rojas, Caballero, Rios, Diego are all guys who will be getting title shots in the next 6-12 months. And turning their prospects into contenders. You have established vets like Linares, Matthyssee, Lemieux, Corrales but where they are trying to bank on is hitting on as many prospects as they can. But they did a tricky thing rebuild while still putting on huge shows.

What are you talking about in less then 2 years Canelo would of fought Cotto and GGG 2 without a doubt top 10 P4P ranked fighters at the time he fought them. If you basically avg a P4P ranked fighter every year it's just ****** to say he hasn't faced quality opponents. And literally everyone one of the ESPN cards have been quality fights. Miura/Roman is another great fight in addition to Vargas/Berchelt, Berhelt who they have options on and is fighting Miura next. GB had the fight of the year in 2016 and the fight of the year in 2015. Miura/Berchelt has all the ingredients to be fight of the year in 2017. If we just stopped right now Golden Boy is the favorites to win Promoter of the year.

A lot of people just complaining because GB didn't fall apart 3 years ago like they predicted and they are prime to dominant for a long time with one of the best young stables and the biggest superstar in the sport, they have ESPN deal they just signed while PBC lost all their networks and can't afford to put on shows anymore. PBC lost half a billion dollars with nothing to show for it.
