If you basically avg a P4P ranked fighter every year it's just ****** to say he hasn't faced quality opponents. And literally everyone one of the ESPN cards have been quality fights. Miura/Roman is another great fight in addition to Vargas/Berchelt, Berhelt who they have options on and is fighting Miura next. GB had the fight of the year in 2016 and the fight of the year in 2015. Miura/Berchelt has all the ingredients to be fight of the year in 2017. If we just stopped right now Golden Boy is the favorites to win Promoter of the year.

A lot of people just complaining because GB didn't fall apart 3 years ago like they predicted and they are prime to dominant for a long time with one of the best young stables and the biggest superstar in the sport, they have ESPN deal they just signed while PBC lost all their networks and can't afford to put on shows anymore. PBC lost half a billion dollars with nothing to show for it.
Cotto was ranked P4P #9 when they fought.

Also they said earlier the Chavez fight did over 1,000,000 ppv buys.

Diego De La Hoya in time I think will be special. As long as Oscar stays sober the skies the limit...

Canelo hasn't faced a quality opponent in 3 years since Lara, unless you count a passed it Cotto. September will answer a lot of questions about Canelo and GB for the future
Sept. Is also gonna tell us a LOT about GGG as well.

If Lemieux moves up he's in the mix at 168. Shabbranskyy was top 10 at 175 he's one win away from rejoining that list. Their real blind spot is heavyweight. Every other weight class they have talent and loads of top prospects on the rise.
I am acknowledging that GBP is solid @ 160. If you think Matthysse is relevant at 147, that's on you. Orozco might step up, but as of today, he's not relevant. When I think of 175, I think of Ward, Kovalev, Stevenson, Alvarez, Smith, Beterbiev, Gvozdyk, Barerra, and Browne. Shabranskyy is not relevant. GBP is relevant with the little guys, but even then, when I think of lighter weights: Lomachenko, Salido, Berchelt, Miura, LSC, Mares, Rigo, GRJ, LSC, Frampton, Selby, and Mikey Garcia. That doesn't mean someone I didn't mention is not a good prospect (Easter Jr.), but they're not relevant at the moment. Last but not least, that WWE BS last weekend was horrible, and I feel robbed of $70, so maybe that is clouding my judgement

You are picking and choosing the standard for relevant. Are we going by draw and name matthysee is a bigger name then only a few guys at 147. If you talking rankings then orozco is top 3 top 5 on everyone 140 rankings and I think beats everyone but crawford. Linares is lineal. Corrales only loma ranked higher. Miura and Berchelt all fighting under golden boy banner they have their options.

The Berchelt/Vargas was their best showing this year and it only cost them Vargas for who knows how long.
Hate on PBC/Showtime all you want but they have been delivering the best shows and fights all this year with more still to come.
I don't hate on PBC/Showtime. They have delivered the best content so far this year. All I was doing was appreciating what Golden Boy Promotions has done so far also.
Don't know why they don't post ESPN ratings my guess writers view it the same as FS1 and ShoBox cards meaning these shows don't really pull in major viewership.

Corrales has yet to make his Golden Boy Promotions debut my guess it will be on HBO during the summer. Maybe the undercard to Berchelt vs Miura. Speaking of Berchelt I agree with you that it cost Vargas but that was his decision and I'm hoping he rests and comes back for another title run.

Of course I am picking and choosing because this is totally subjective, just like a P4P list. Some might say Pacquiao is relevant @ 147. I disagree. Doesn't mean I'm right or wrong, but I haven't thought Pac was relevant @ 147 since the Mayweather fight. However, in your standard he would be because he has a name. Lastly, are you sure Berchelt and Miura are signed to GBP?

I am impressed with the passion and knowledge about promoters and the business side of boxing displayed by some posters on this site. As far as the haters go, like the poor they will always be with us.

I don't think Golden boy goes away anytime soon. I was impressed with the way Oscar and GBP handled the negotiations with the Golovkin fight. Unlike Loeffler and GGG they did not overplay their hand. It seems to me they were willing to take the heat in order to get the right financial deal.

Waiting also gave Canelo time to get more experience to give Canelo time get more experience to make it a more competitive fight. I know GGG's whinny supporters would have prefer that the fight take place when Canelo was in his late teens or early 20's when GGG has all the advantages. My hat's off to Oscar and his team.
