Let's get hypothetical for a moment and say that Canelo wins, and wins clearly...

Let me add also I think if Canelo beats GGG, expect GBP to play it safe for a little while like I said Lemiuex, then Saunders or Khurtsdze if BJS and Khurt fight this year. Of course barring mandatories and we know how strict the IBF is. They will mandate Tureano Johnson on Canelo, there's also the N'Dam-Murata winner for the WBA Interim. It will be interesting to see if Canelo will want the WBC title on the line after he made his beef with them public.

But let's face it, the two top guys after Canelo/GGG are Jacobs and Charlo and that's who the fans will harass Canelo to fight.

Lemieux, Jacobs, Saunders are the main options I would say. Charlo and Andy Lee in the frame too. Possible that a Cotto rematch might still happen. There won't be many big names around for him to be honest. Some of the 147 guys like Spence, Brook, and Thurman moving up would probably be the next fights that people would be into.

Obviously I'm not overlooking freaking Gennady Golovkin, just playing hypotheticals right now -- IF Canelo was to notch a clear win over Golovkin -- what would be next for him?

I don't see many threats out there at all beyond the Charlos...and maybe Jacobs.
          Maybe Jacobs??

Jacobs would kill 5'7 Canelito...come on now.

Alvarez will bring up the softest touches at 154 and fight them.

I think any one of the Charlos versus Canelo, regardless of how he fares against Golovkin, would be epic

Lemieux no doubt would be next but I think Canelo winning will open up the belts again, I don't see him meeting the IBF morning weigh in thing and maybe he vacates the WBC again.

It's between those two, definitely. I think you are right, Ward would still be superior.

If he wins can fight GGG again and make more money. Otherwise fights with Lemieux, Jacobs, Charlo and wait for the next boogeyman to pop up. Also fighters 2 weight classes below or above him will be willing to jump weight to make money and fight him. Nobody thought Chavez and Khan were viable options because of weight then bam those fights were made. So really anybody at 147, 154, 160, 168 Canelo can grab the pick of the litter from all those weights to choose from
