Golovkin has better footwork and a better jab - some may disagree but I also think Golovkin is the more intelligent, cerebral fighter.

For me though it's the stamina and output that may well prove the difference here, both are highly accurate, but Golovkins typically a 60 - 70 punch a round guy, Canelo's typically a 40 odd punch a round guy and even then he often seems to need to take a breather. For Canelo to win he really needs to slow the pace of the fight down to something he's comfortable with. If he can't do that I can't see how he can win.

Jacobs managed it somewhat with sustained and aggressive counter attacks but that ain't really Canelos style and I'm unconvinced he would last if he tried it. It's telling to me that Golovkin and Canelo both threw and landed almost an identical number of shots in their last fights, but Canelo was doing it against a lackluster, unskilled Jr who was barely throwing back and still got tired, whereas Golovkin did the same numbers under a storm of return fire, against a more elusive opponent.

Anyways, this **** will get decided in the ring in September and all our predictions are basically meaningless. Just glad this ish got made. May the best guy win.
Legit post. I slightly disagree on Alvarez style and the stamina comparison. I believe Alvarez prefers to counter and is best suited against against an aggressor. As for stamina, Trip has shown that he will tire in the later rounds. Both fighters will have a opportunity to take advantage of the others rest round. I'm hesitant to use punch stats to determine stamina as punches can be thrown with varying exertion as well as other factors such as fighting to gain position during in fighting impact stamina.

He doesn't have to hurt Golovkin he needs to disrupt his rhythm and keep him guessing. If they're trading combos all fight I think Canelo will wear down quicker. If Canelo is going back in a straight line Golovkin will have a field day. I think this fight will be like the Jacobs fight in the sense that both fighters will have their moments. It might come down a KD here or there. God forbid they fight to a draw.

There is a reason why Canelo has been a protected fighter most of this career and I believe the Golovkin fight will show it. Delo Hoya's team has done a masterful job carefully cherry picking fights for their media star, matching him with old fighters, blown up welterweights who can't punch or take a punch or like with Chavez a fighter who had no business in the ring fighting any PPV fight but he has his daddies last name and they really used the media to blow this up as a war for hispanic boxing supremecy when in fact is was a sparring match. The few times Canelo fought real fights he lost big time, once to Mayweather and some will say a robbery against Lara. No he'll fight Golovkin and unless GGG tanks completely will destroy Canelo and Dela Hoya will demand a big buck rematch claiming he was sick or over trained. In the end it's about the money. Yes, Golovkin is on the south side of his prime but he still will be to much for the media star to handle

Yup. A lot of fighters emerge victorious without hurting their opponents. They just outbox them.

Good post but trip does not necessarily tire in the late rounds, it is more often around 7 and 8. He finds his second wind after that. Peace.

That's fine but Golovkin's chin is not in question. Well, at least for anyone with a brain. I'm sure there a few ******s who will beg to differ.

True. I think Jacobs is better and has more power than Canelo. Lemieux has more power. Neither one could hurt Golovkin. I do agree with others here that if Golovkin doesn't beat Canelo convincingly they'll give the nod to Canelo. He has more long term income potential for the business of boxing.

If Canelo gets it to the scorecards I highly doubt that Gennady wins, barring a few knockdowns.

Canelo's a better boxer than 3G. It's really hard to see Gennady winning enough rounds over the course of a 12 round fight with Canelo to get a decision.

I mean I could be wrong...I want to be wrong -- I'm rooting for Golovkin, but I have my doubts.

Well Yea HBO needs Canelo more than GGG

Are you on your period or something? Stop getting in your feelings like a little b*tch. Calm down and try remembering that an insult is not a counter argument. I hope you don't change to an alt after the fight out of embarrassment once you see for yourself everything I've said is true.
