When Chavez fought Lee canelo was just 21 and had just moved from welterweight to super welterweight. There has always been a lot of weight separating them two. But if you want to complain that the fight didn't happen earlier watch the face to face canelo pulled Chavez h0e card. Saying early on you were the A side and I wanted to fight you and you guys didn't want to make the fight. Now that I became the A side the fight is happening because I wanted to make it unlike when the roles were flip flopped. Chavez didn't even deny it. So apparently even outside the weight Chavez didn't want to risk losing against the young stud on the rise.

Damn, SMFH. Canela is a disgrace to boxing always taking advantages. That abuse ends on September, he will be finished forever. Mark my words. I will be there live to witness it.

Maybe so, but a weight drained Chavez was what team Alvarez wanted and what they got.
Alvarez might not have won the the fight at the negotiating table, but Chavez sure lost it there.

this is the result of most catchweights

          a big fat " ? "

fights are supposed to provide answers, which is why we have weight divisions

I don't care if I never see another catchweight EVER

Maybe. Four pounds is a lot, though.

Anyway, I don't foresee Chavez being a competitive fighter again at any weight. That said, he can still make some money.

It's not even that JCC Jr is lying, fighters could very well be telling the truth in post fight interviews about weight. But they wait until after the fight and lie to the fans and media about their successful weight training before the fight. Everyone knows Chavez Jr killed himself to make 164lbs.

Yep got to make that money and promote the fight

He's too big for 160. Hell be too big for 168, and he's not good enough for 175. Just retire
