America has a bit of a guilt complex now. It's become unfashionable to boast and brag about how wealthy and powerful we are as a country so we find ourselves compromising politically and socially. The election of Trump was a bit of a backlash against that and a push toward protectionism but make no mistake, we're still not all that nationalistic.
I could give a fk where a fighter comes from. None of them represent me as a person and their success doesn't validate me. I find it strange when people get excited about a boxer because he's from their country. It seems like someone must feel really small if that is important to them but I'm not going to judge because I don't fully understand why they feel the way they do.Comment
