Comments Thread For: Chavez Sr. Would Rather See His Son Retire - Unless He Changes

Legendary Mexican icon Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. is very disappointed with his son, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., over last Saturday's performance against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Chavez Jr. was dominated from bell to bell, losing a twelve round unanimous decision where all three judges scored every round for Canelo.

Rough translation: "He can't continue doing things his own way, not giving a **** about anything, it's sad to say it, but when you don't give a ****, you're not worth ****, he doesn't care about criticism, he doesn't care about this or that, he wants to do things his way, things just don't function."

this kid is such a disgrace to his father. Jr dragged the Chavez name down the drain and really should just retire like Sr says. He's 31 not young anymore. If he hasn't gotten it by now he won't ever. He's needs to disappear or at best stay fighting bums in Mexico and hope that in a year or 2 the stink of this fight will wear off and maybe he can get another fight. But right now it's basically impossible to get fans or any network to pay to see him again. He basically needed 2 years to get fans to forget about him quitting against Fonfara. This fight will leave a bigger mark. I hope I never see him in a world class fight ever again.

It's hard to be as good or better than your legendary father. The only thing that is common is an average athlete has a son who's better than him at the sport. But when you're already one of the greatest, and your son joins the sport it's gonna be hard.

                Ken Griffey
                Barry Bonds
                Mayweather Jr
                Stephen Curry
                Kobe Bryant
                Peyton Manning

To name some sons who were greater than their fathers, and their fathers were "good" at best. Well Bobby Bonds was pretty damn good, 300+ homers with no PED's, but still his son was legendary (and controversial).

Chavez Sr just has to look at Magic Johnson and his son though, he'll see that Chavez Jr isn't that big of an L as a son.

Snr needs to realise the life he's given his son has made him the man he is today

0 struggle . Brought up without having to fight for anything

Born with a legendary name doesn't give you the right to compete with world class fighters

95% + world champions have had to fight their whole life

Sr. as good boxer as he was, cannot talk discipline to his sons with a straight face after struggling for years and even during his career with drug abuse.
