Comments Thread For: Yvon Michel Stands Firm That Artur Beterbiev Contract Still Valid

Nothing is going well between light heavyweight contender Artur Beterbiev and his promoter Yvon Michel of GYM. As previously reported on Monday, Beterbiev (11-0, 11 KOs) filed legal documents to break his promotional pact with Michel. The two sides are expected to battle it out in court, with a decision coming down before the summer.

First Lemieux now Beterbiev. Not sure that it's a coindedence.

Not sure what has happened to Michels promotion in recent years but it's on the decline it seems.

GYM is a horrible promoter. Not very smart either. Stevenson is an aging champion, they can't keep trying to protect him. Might as well put him in with a worthy challenger from the same stable and pass the baton. Get him to fight Alvarez or Beterbiev, and still have a champion under its belt. The way it's going, Stevenson will end losing to some bum because he's too old and GYM will be standing empty handed.

GYM is ruining Beterbiev's chances at a decent career.

Hope he manages to break away from Michel SOON, before his prime runs out.

Yvon been giving that man the run around and keeping him AWAY from Stevenson to be honest! I have yet to even hear Yvon even mention the possibility of that fight so yeah I think Beterbiev is smart to try and get away from Yvon Michel in this case

              Wasn't Pascal with him too?

On another note I like Bets just get him in the ring?

Beterbiev is 32 years old. My god. And I thought Golovkin was on the slow track. This guy will be in his mid-30s by the time he fights someone with a pulse.

                  Who?

And Beterbiev fans were trying to rag on Barrera's last opponent.

Don't blame Yvon Michel, Blame Al Haymon.
Beterbiev signed with Al Haymon in June 2015.
Before signing with Haymon, Yvon Michel had Beterbiev fighting former world champions, like Cloud and Campillo. After signing with Haymon, he's fought nobody of note. People are mentioning Adonis Stevenson, but Adonis is another fighter that Haymon has mismanaged. Before signing with Haymon, Adonis was fighting the likes of Dawson, Cloud, and Bellew. After signing with Haymon, Adonis has mostly fought uninteresting opponents, and has also been denied the opportunity to unify with Kovalev. When it comes to Beterbiev and Stevenson, Yvon Michel is more puppet than Promoter. Haymon is the man ruining careers, but his shills are the ones getting the blame.
