"Floyd waited until Manny got old"

Explain this excuse - since we're now hearing it with Canelo/Golovkin and will probably continue hearing it after the fight.

May 2nd, 2015:

Floyd Mayweather was 38 years old.
Manny Pacquiao was 36 years old.


Golovkin DEBUTED at 24 years old. Canelo is JUST about to turn 27. They won their first lettered titles within one year of each other - aka Canelo was skilled as a teenager equivalent to Golovkin as an adult.

Yet somehow people believe Manny was "old", Golovkin is "old" and these A-side guys "waited" for aging...?

Well PAC came from smaller weight where they age faster so that PAC is still competing shows how great he is. He's had more fights than Floyd and started younger. And Floyd waited for PAC to be koed

So when you think about it it's not that confusing.

I wouldn't say Mayweather waited for Pacquiao to get old but he obviously wasn't the same fighter as he was from like 07-10.

Pacquiao waited. Pacquiao turned down the testing and then turned down the testing with a 14 day cut off. Then they came up with excuses about needing 8 months for a cut to heal and building outdoor arenas. People hated Mayweather so much they were blind to Pacquiao avoiding the fight.

I'm not sure but I think floyd offered 50/50 split to fight Pacquiao 2009 - this was way before Pac was slept by JMM.

Not sure why the negotiations failed in 2009. It must have failed because pac wanted more than the 50/50 split. No other reason that I am aware of.
