Why has American boxing declined to it's current pitiful state?

Guys that should be stars lile Thurman and Crawford are barely known anywhere.

And Wilder? No one knows that guy. And people that do know him i.e. boxing fans know him to be jist a bum hunter with no skills or chin, ripe for the KO.

How did American boxing degenerate to the embarrassing state we see now?

No interest. Too many sports to choose from. And the MMA.

MMA was bigger ten years ago man, with the Chuck Liddel/Ortiz era Lesnar and everything. And NBA, basball and NFL have been around forever.

It's a deeper malaise, a cultural shift in fighting. America's fighters are just boring now. No one tries to go for entertainment or for KO's and thes that do (Beyonce) only fight bums to protect their investment.

American figjters, bar a few, are boring as ****.

The question is why there is no interest.

            Partly due to Haymon

Guys in their Prime like Porter, Thurman & Andrade are fighting 1 time a year? being totally wasted.

Then you have mismatches & robberies which don't really help.

imsgine if wilder was From the U.K. 37 wins and all those KO. He'd be a mega star. Americans just don't care about boxing. Wilder has a personality, he should be a big star. Needs that big fight though and hasn't had it yet.

Sad man. Boxing needs a strong America and it's dying a death now.

Because other sports supplanted boxing 30+ years ago. Our youth are pushed into football, basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey, and just about everything else at very early ages. Each of those sports offer easier money and better chances of making it than boxing. So no one gives a **** about boxing anymore. Over the years our youth culture and American culture in general has increasingly revolved around the NFL, MLB, and NBA.

I couldn't even tell you where to find a boxing gym.

In the U.S. Olympic gold was always a ticket to stardom. We haven't won since Ward. He was on the verge of becoming a superstar but inactivity after the super 6 hurt him. I believe if we start winning golds again boxing will do better here. And yes mama has taken a lot younger fans away from boxing.
