I know how much you guys like to b**** and moan about Broner playing "possum" in that fight but that really was a mean headbutt from a dirty fighter. Headbutts are completely illegal and immoral in this prestigious sport.

If Broner had stayed down and played the "victim", he could have easily taken a W via form of DQ. You guys should be happy that he didn't do that, like some of your other favorite fighters would have. He showed true heart in that fight even if he was in there with a bigger, dirtier fighter, not to mention that was only his second fight at welterweight. Some "other" fighters won't even move up a single division.

Post definitely wasn't made in vain - you're absolutely right in Broner showing mad balls in that fight. Hell of a chin as well.

The fight really was closer than most remeber too. Broner also had Maidana hurt pretty bad at one point in the last few rounds - I can't remember which.

When I say closer I mean it was like eight rounds to four and not a shut out.

A lesser fighter would have crumpled either mentally or physically after that second KD. But Broner soldiered on even bringing the fight to Maidana at some points

Nope. Ref wasn't falling for it. That was barely even a "headbutt". He was trying to push his way out of a hug. If Broner stayed down he would have forfeited the match.

Ref has to make it very clear that he believes the fighter has been disabled by an illegal attack for a DQ to happen and that ref was just rolling his eyes and telling Broner the fight's still on, equivalent to time out for an accidental groin shot.

Imagine if every time a fighter got tagged in the balls and decided to stay down, boom, fight over, DQ victory. That isn't how it works. Thank God.

Real talk doe I think we all got lost in how funny it was to see Maidana beat Broner at his own game and shut him up .

But what got lost in this fight is the balls and heart Broner showed.

And he really did win four rounds or so and even had Maidana hurt pretty badly in like the eleventh I think.

It was really just an all around great scrap with plenty of two way exchanges and action.
