Fights that were signed/finalized while the fighter had an upcoming fight?

Canelo-Golovkin was signed before Canelo even fought Chavez Jr. Everybody though Canelo would win but its still kinda disrespectful to write Chavez Jr. off completely like that. Ward had the 3 fight HBO deal with Kovalev as the third fight if he got past his first two opponents but I'm not sure if the Kovalev fight was completely negotiated and signed until after the Brand fight.

Can anybody think of any more cases where a different fight was signed while one or both fighters had upcoming fights?

That was the whole Canelo cure era He was supposed to fight Kirkland, but Kirkland got hurt (later found out that he wanted more money), he was supposed to fight Williams but he had the motorcycle accident, then he was supposed to fight Ortiz but Lopez broke his jaw

Same! I was also looking forward to the Pavlik vs Williams fight. Not sure why that fight ended up not happening
