I still think GGG batters him. Even though canelo really has looked great the past few years.

Clearly they feel confident that Alvarez is prepared enough or they wouldn't have made it.

There's absolutely no reason to feel bad for him. This **** should have happened a year ago, he's ready.

He has fought a grand total of ZERO fights to prepare him for GGG, despite knowing since at least 2015 that GGG would be the next big hurdle in front of him.

Instead he decided to bring Cotto down, bring up a chinless welterweight, bring down a nobody and fight over 160 against a somebody who cant fight worth a damn.

Way too much time wasted at Caneloweight. He wont be acclimated to 160 and wont be acclimated to fighting MWs.

Why didnt they prepare Canelo specifically for GGG???
Obviously, the more fights a fighter gets when moving up in weight, the better acclimated that fighter will be. But Canelo forced himself into this situation by spazzing out during the PR disaster after the Khan fight.

I personally feel 3 or more fights is the best way for a fighter to prepare when moving up to a new weight class.

And I think Canelo should fight Lemmy at 160 before he takes on GGG in Sept.

How does the #2 guy in a division prepare for the #1 guy (or vice versa)? Who even fights like GGG lower in the rankings to "get Canelo ready" supposedly?

I'm picking Canelo to win btw. I thought Canelo was winning 1.5yrs, 2yrs ago at this point when they started seriously talking about this fight & all that's changed is GGG got a lil past his prime (35yrs now) + looked a lil more human in a couple fights making it all the more clearer to me that Canelo wins. Granted I think Canelo has fought a bunch of garbage opponents in the meantime, but I don't see it reflecting negatively on him vs GGG cuz he's a guy who always seems to fight at 100% whoever he's in there with & if he doesn't know how to beat GGG today he won't know tomorrow to hijack Egis' line.

When i read the title about feeling bad for Connello, I thought you were going to refer about how right after the fight. They put GGG in the ring and didn't let Connello bask in his glory for battle of Mexico. Connello face said it all like he was disrespected that Oscar used that platform to hype the next fight even more. I don't think GBP let him know what was going to happen the look on his face said it all. Look at the pictures also with GGG.

I wish I could call Canelo the #2 guy in the division. At this point his only experience at MW is draining guys he shouldnt have drained.

I wouldn't say you don't have an argument there cuz clearly there is some big timing going on in boxing with weight sh^t these days, but I mean at worst what can you consider Canelo at MW, the #3, #4 guy maybe? I still don't see anyone who's "getting him ready for GGG".

He's gonna win or he's gonna lose & at some point there is diminishing returns on beating GGG or anyone else any particular guy fights which is one of the reasons US boxing is subpar today. Everything is about marinating & maximizing the dollars instead of maximizing the competitiveness.

I'd rather see great fights not impressive PPV numbers. And I'd argue the higher the quality of the boxing product offered time in, time out, the more loyal the boxing fanbase gets & the more PPV's that get sold anyway & it doesn't end up feeling like a Ponzi scheme like last night did.
