where are the childish ***-tards who ran around for the last 2-3 years calling every top fighter mentioned alongside Golovkin a coward?

top fighters like Cotto, Martinez, Ward, Lara, Canelo, Froch..... anyone who even mentioned Golovkin

the bashing of Canelo has been childishly absurd..... where were you then?

that, and the fact that they were almost certainly going to have to entertain Saunders next, which could have affected Golovkin's marketability even worse

      the time was right

Exactly, I think GGG has always seen canelo as his "Oscar dela Hoya". Just a stepping stone to bigger money and fame

My point is the fight is happening barring any injuries and you lames still want all the numbers. Why don't you accountants call GBP mabee they will break down the numbers so you can all debate about others peoples money. Even though you're not getting a cent of the cut. Wannabees thanks for making my points for me.

No it means it took the Jacobs fight flopping to knock these idiots down to earth and lower their demands. They were afraid lemieux was getting the fight in Sept of they keot pricing themselved out so they caved and accepted their B side role. All this everyone is ducking GGG crap was a myth they just killed fights over weight, money demands and other non sense that a B side can't sell PPV fighter shouldn't be making.

It's called sobering up to the reality of where 35 year old GGG stands in the pecking order of boxing and falling in line. He accepted canelo's terms so he got the fight. It's that simple

this fight was agreed upon before ggg ever fought jacobs. They just didn't want to say anything so as not impact the ppv buys that that either event could generate.

link where loeffler says they declined an offer?

I don't think it will the big blockbuster people are expecting. My guess is around $1 to 1.2 million tops! We can get a better guess after the Canelo Chavez Jr. numbers are in.
I'd say those numbers are accurate. There's more demand around this fight than there was for cotto vs Canelo which did 900k. even though cotto is a bigger name than ggg, the demand and anticipation for this fight is greater than what that one was.

Yeah, I didn't realize that BoxingScene had become a forum for fantasy boxing promoters.

Both Golovkin and Canelo will make more money in one night than most people here will make in their entire lifetimes. So who really cares about the business side of the fight?

At the end of the day, Golovkin is the unified WBA, WBC, IBF and IBO middleweight titleholder. He has made 18 straight middleweight title defenses. Two more would tie Hopkins' all-time record.

Canelo doesn't hold any titles, having vacated the WBC title he won from Cotto. So he's the challenger. As far as the sport goes, it's as simple as that.

not quite sure what you're talking about but here's my view on the fighters you mentioned in terms of their connection to ggg
Cotto - probably wouldn't have ever faced ggg. Too small and made more money facing Canelo.
Martinez - with the injuries, he wasn't going to risk coming back to take on ggg. Fighting cotto was a safer fight and better financially.
Ward- would've beaten ggg and gggs team probably didn't want to take that risk.
Froch- chose to retire rather than face ggg.
Lara- has been calling out ggg and gggs team probably ignored it because nobody looks good vs Lara.. Ever.
The problem with Canelo is nobody else mentioned has called out ggg to enter the ring after one of their fights and then give up their belt 2 weeks later to decline making a mandatory defense. The perception of doing that makes it way worse to boxing fans and facing significant underdogs in khan, beefy and Chavez jr instead of ggg didn't help that perception.
