I'm sorry but how many times have we seen this? The thinking beforehand goes, that the bigger fighter will have the advantage in size and power.

In reality, the bigger fighter has to slim down so much that it weakens them, they end up a sitting duck. The smaller fighter gets to fight closer to their natural weight, and ends up with more power and stamina as a result.

This is especially true with Canelo who was fighting far below his 'true' weight.

The bigger fighter only has the advantage if they don't have to lose any weight. Otherwise, when we've seen this before, the smaller fighter has all the advantages and seems to be able to fight with no limitations to power or stamina.

Would Chavez have won at 172lb? Probably not, but it's another smart weight advantage by GBP.

This fight stunk almost as much as Pac/May! Even the spanish channels were saying how this fight was a fiasco and embarrassment...

Chavez Jr. was never meant to be a boxer, his dad forced him to be one

I think Chavez Jr. was never meant to be a boxer.

He is the "junior" of the legend. The legend loves the spotlight. He wants to remain relevant in boxing for good. To me it is the typical case of a dad FORCING the child to become something he/she doesn't want to become, or isn't meant to become, to satisfy his own desires, sacrificing the real goals and aptitudes of the child.

Chavez Sr. is so selfish, so self-absorbed. It has been clear forever that Chavez Jr. doesn't have the natural skills, inclination, interest, aptitude to be a boxer. He seems to do it just to oblige his selfish father and most of all, to make loads of money (millions of dollars that is) that he wouldn't be able to make by doing any other more "normal" activity as an employee or entrepreneur.

This issue of Chavez Jr. throwing very few punches, to the point of being frustrating and annoying to see him do nothing during fights, is a thing that has always happened in his fights. He won several fights simply because he was TOO HUGE for the opponent and the opponent was always a C-class fighter. Either too small, too mediocre or both.

Jr. should have the guts to stand up to dad, and make it public, say the truth of what he really is: "To the public and to my father, I was NEVER EVER meant to be a boxer. I became a wannabe boxer because it makes my dad happy, but it is not my true calling, I am not good at it, nor do I even enjoy doing it. So I am officially retiring from boxing and will pursue my true calling in life. Thanks to everyone who supported me during my boxing career. I tried my best, but I am not naturally gifted at this, like my dad was."

So many cases of parents, most specially the father, FORCING the son to become something he was never meant to be, out of pure selfishness. It happens time and time again. I hope Chavez Jr. retires from boxing for good and wish him good luck with whatever thing he pursues.

By the third round he looked so despondent. I felt sorry for him actually; he hit Canelo with some flurries, but when he knew he couldn't hurt Canelo it was just a matter of surviving.

LMFAO ay the posters defending the talentless bum. The fight went off the only way it could have...and should never have even happened but so many fools have such short memories.

Was he not allowed to rehydrate? Because this is excuse number 2 since he lost that fight.

As GGG said to canelo " good luck". GGG predicted the outcome of the fight a week earlier. He said chavez jnr would come in weight drained, and go downhill after round 2.

First off, when it comes to these two, it really didn't matter if Junior was at his best weight or drained, either way he was 100% going to lose. And lose big. Junior's only shot ever against a guy like Canelo is/was knocking his ass out. He's not going to win rounds against Canelo. Ever. I don't care if dude is at his most healthy weight and best shape of his entire boxing life. Canelo's levels above this guy as a boxer.

And we've never seen Canelo hurt, or even down on the f**king canvas...let alone knocked the f**k out. Junior ain't knocking Canelo out, not now...not ever.

Now to the issue of Junior feeling weak at the weight. I hate when motherf**kers say this **** after the fact. You took the fight. Nobody forced you to. You signed the contract and agreed to the weight. So STFU.
