This was like a cash grab inside of a cash grab lol. Oscar wanted to make this fight cuz Chavez gots the name & was low risk, but Chavez said f#ck all that I'm just gonna halfass on the effort & do as lil as possible for my payday too. Minimal effort by all parties. I think Canelo was just phoning it in too at a certain point cuz he had it all locked up & knew he couldn't KO Chavez.

Canelo seems to fight to the level of his opponent for the most part so I don't see it being a barn burner type fight I think GGG will respect Canelo's skills he's much quicker than GGG
It's gonna be a hesistant few rounds. But I honestly believe GGG has a better chance of dropping the can than the can dropping GGG.

Both can drop each other but I see GGG finishing this man.

          • what you guys don't realise.....

GGG is in way deeper with Canelo than he was with Jacobs

NOBODY said Jacobs was world-class before the GGG fight

some even said that he was a bum, with no real experience, who had been outclassed by Pirog

Jacobs was rangier and used good control of distance, but Canelo is more-skilled and his style is better qualified to meet fire with fire..... he has a better team, and will have a better gameplan

I think that Canelo is gonna handle Golovkin

you guys who insisted that Golovkin would walk all over Canelo, are going to look slightly less-****** than you guys who said that Canelo would never fight Golovkin

            lessons all round

            • Gokovkin's jab is going to be hell for Canelo.

this is what I believe as well , I think the deciding factor is gggs very underated jab and that will control canelo and get ggg a late stoppage or points win , but will be a fun fight, FINALLY happening.

the right-hand over the top that Khan got, is going to be hell for Golovkin

Khan is lightning fast, Golovkin is slooooow

                  • Great great fight!!! one thing i will say , if you switch Jacobs with Canelo and have the Jacobs vs GGG fight on replay (punch for punch) Canelo wins the decision , if its anywhere competitive Canelo wins the decision , GGG will need to dominate or stop Canelo to win this fight which i feel will make it a really good one as he won't be able to coast on rounds or let canelo win rounds easily , every clear round lost to Canelo will be costly as the close rounds will go the ginger way , LETS DOOOOO ITTTTTT

This is an important observation for anybody trying to make predictions about GGG-Canelo based on the Chavez fight.

According to CompuBox, Chavez only landed 15 jabs in the entire Canelo fight. In other words, Chavez did close to nothing to try to set up power shots.

For comparison, in his last 13 fights, Golovkin has landed ~10 jabs per round, well above the middleweight average. And a lot of those jabs are power jabs capable of buzzing opponents.

As Paulie Malignaggi noted when Canelo fought Khan, Canelo "clearly has troubles when guys jab him. He doesn’t jab back."

The Chavez fight did nothing to prepare Canelo for Golovkin.
