Although I expected Canelo to win I didn't expect Chavez's performance to be that poor. Chavez barely put any kind of consistent effort forth. The only thing this fight proved is that Canelo has the tools to deal with a taller and longer opponent. I still believe he loses to GGG but I don't think it's as one sided a fight as many believe it to be.

The fans wouldn't have accepted that though. He was heavily booed walking into the ring. That wasn't just booing because he was fighting Chavez, that was the fans saying 'you're a fraud and we don't respect you'. If he announced he was fighting Saunders or Lemieux next, the backlash would be so immense.

That's BS. The Mexican fans filled up Cowboy stadium in his last fight and everyone knew GGG wasn't next. Mexican fans tend to root for the underdog in an all Mexican fight. Just like they booed ODL when he fought Chavez Sr. They were just rooting for Chavez Jr. because he had more to gain. This myth that Mexican fans turned on Canelo is just that.
If BBB side wasn't next Canelo had plenty of options and the arena would have still been at capacity. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.
