  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Would Love To Help Promote Joshua in America

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has offered to make Anthony Joshua a star in the United States, as one of heavyweight boxing's most exciting talents is now the talk of the sport after last weekend's spectacular win. Joshua, who coming in held the IBF championship, got off the floor in the sixth round to stop Wladimir Klitschko in the eleventh and captured the vacant WBA (Super) and IBO belts in front of 90,000 fans last Saturday at London's Wembley Stadium.

AJ has to first take Lennox Lewis advice and be willing to compete across the pond.

Of course he would. He'd love to get in on the action because Canelo is his only gig now. Haymon is the guy to work with, but I see Hearn carving out a deal with Mayweather Promotions.

No thank you, Oscar. Some of us would like to see a Wilder-Joshua fight, rather than let it "marinate" for years

Why Mayweather? Just curious...for that instant boost in media attention? Floyd hasn't said a word about Joahua yet. But Hearn has done several cards with Mayweather/Haymon

just seems like a weird suggestion. He definitely won't be working with GBP though lol

If De La Hoya had the chance he would give Joshua the Canelo treatment. Joshua would be fighting cruiserweights moving up while letting fights against Fury, Wilder, Ortiz marinate for another 2-3 years.

              LOL I'm sure he would.

Doesn't Hearn already got the ability to promote in the US doe? Or is there any reason he couldn't do so if he wanted? Isn't it as simple as applying for a promoters license? So that being the case why would Hearn need Oscar or any American promoter?

And sh^t Oscar doesn't even got a interesting HW for a co-promotion with Hearn does he? Ortiz is gone & it doesn't even sound like he's on the short list for the next 2 opponents anyway.

What a load of rubbish. There's no way he would make more money in America. Oscar needs to stop living in the past. I hope he does fight in America but I don't think it will be for the money.

This is the portrayed image Oscar has created when dealing with his top fighters.
