Yeah, that's not how this works in the real world.

Cinco de Mayo is actually not an official holiday in Mexico. It is celebrated as a big deal in the U.S. and except for Puebla, it is pretty much a yawn in Mexico. The big day is Mexican Independence day, September 16. Cinco de Mayo is pushed in the U.S. by breweries and other commercial interests to sell beer and make money from the unsuspecting public and of course to promote big time fights.Comment

I understand the odds makers making Canelo an overwhelming favorite. It's not a well guarded secret that Alverez is a protected fighter and Dela Hoya would never allow him into a legitimate fight where he has a real chance of losing. Take away the Chavez name and you have a fighter who hasn't looked good in years, has been inactve and is required to be severely weight drained in order for the fight to happen. Don't buy all Dela Hoya media hype this is simply another instance of Canelo attempting to get a "name" in the win column, guess their where no lightweights left with weak chins so they had to look the other way. Man! do they work hard at avoiding ANY legitimate Jr middleweight or middleweight fights. Good side of this is Chavez gets 6 million to retire on and he does have a punchers chance! I'll be rooting for him!!Comment

Chavez is a meat dish for Golden Boy to consume. Nothing more. He's like King Khan, another guy who's been flattened before, who isn't even close to Canelo's weight, and who has a big name with money behind it, but can't win.
Anybody who thinks Chavez is going to win this fight is ******ly unaware of the fact that you can NOT erase inconsistency and irresponsibility in one night. You only do it with consistency and accountability over years and years which boxers do not enjoy the luxury of. You only get once chance, one youth. Only hard work and dedication will accomplish progress and improvement. Chavez isn't for real.Comment

Lol, bravo to Keith on the title of the article.
Brilliant summary of what we're looking at here. Though, I won't be a complete cynic because I do appreciate the way boxing can suspend our disbelief sometimes. Without that, most fights would be unwatchable.
