I'll be watching that fight that's for sure.. The two different styles of Toney and Wlad will make it a very good fight.
Why Wlad Klitschko picking Toney is a smart move. IMO

Ya, I think Wlad gets one defense before his mandatory.Originally posted by enadeusYeah fastests way to get to Rahman. What I don't understand is what will happen to winner of Ibragimov-Ruiz, probably will have to wait out Klitschko-Rahman fight.Comment

I don't see the fight going 12 rounds. Toney is the slickest of the slick, but Little Klit has a telephone pole of a jab, probably the best jabber since a prime Ray Mercer.Originally posted by boxingguy1226Its a good choice for Wlad because Toney has no KO power at that weight. Only problem I see Wlad having is if Toney comes in at a good weight and Wlad has to go at a high pace for 12 rounds. I doubt that happenign though.
Toney will have to contend with that jab all night long, and Little Klit has finaly learned how to use it. Even if he doesn't keep it in Toney's face all night, he will be pounding him in the chest and shoulders with it. Given Toney's recent spat of injuries, I honestly don't see him being able to take that for 12 rounds.
If Toney can get inside that jab, which I don't think he will be able to do consistently, he lacks the power to hurt Klit.
The only chance Toney stands in this fight is to make Klit fight every single minute of every single round. Even then, it's unknown who would tire out first. It will be a battle of attrition.Comment

go wlad my ass. watch wlad run a up a string of title defenses against any guy who can't punch!! he won't face a puncher for a very long time if at all if steward can help it.Originally posted by !! Mr. Soprano1 - Toney is a big name to fight
2 - Should not be a difficult fight for Wlad
But here is the real logic:
Wlad wants to fight Rahman.
Rahman is already fighting Maskaev. Assuming Rahman gets passed Maskaev, his next fight would be a rematch with Toney.
By Wlad fighting Toney, he eliminates him from the race. So after and if Rahman beats Maskaev and Wlad beats Toney... The two of them can hit it off.
Sounds like a very smart move and the right move for the division.
Go Wlad!Comment
