Conor has zero intention of ever fighting the Great Floyd Mayweather. This fake publicity stunt was genius for the UFC and wee man Conor. One cannot imagine what all this free PUB would have cost the UFC. A clumsy MMA fighter just doesn't get into the ring with the world's best boxer undefeated champion ever. Conor figh s a Paulie Mags or a Robert Guerrero or a Rod Salka for a fight. What a fricking HOOT thinking Conor ever steps into a boxing ring with Floyd. DUH? Do you still believe in Santa? Or Leprechauns??If Conor gets his **** pushed in (Floyd shows up sharp, Conor gasses as he usually does 10-15 minutes into the fight [5th/6th round of a 12-round fight], and Floyd beats him into a stoppage), the UFC's biggest star gets exposed as a "Great White Hype", McGregor heads home with his money, and UFC is left without a single star under their banner who could sell even 500k PPVs.Comment

you's crazy if you think mcgregor is dana's only cash cow. you know the ufc can easily hyped up another fighter to be the next great one right?Comment

im not here to debate if the fight will be good or not. the other guy is justifying floyd vs conor because its an "easy" big pay day but when you bring up the pac rematch, he says there's no point in a rematch.Comment

If the offer wasn't for $100m, Floyd Mayweather wouldn't give a **** about "the 50th win". Why you can;t comprehend that is beyond me.Comment

If he can't get McGregor in the ring, let's see where that leads. He either has to take a dangerous fight with a live dog for the big payday he is looking for, or fight another Berto/Ortiz/Guerrero caliber fighter for less money and the 50th win. Either way, he's going for that 50th.Comment

I agree; McGregor and the UFC never had any real intention of actually making the fight; no different than with Ronda, they were using Floyd's name to elevate Conor in from of the casual combat sports fan.Conor has zero intention of ever fighting the Great Floyd Mayweather. The mistake happened, though, when the talks became live and respectable dollar figures were put onto the table for the fight, in full view of the casual combat sports fan.
$100m to Floyd, $25m to Conor/UFC (more than Conor's biggest ever payday as the guarantee), and the backend money split between the two camps (70/30 Mayweather Promotions) made a fight that folks had fantasized about an actual viable possibility.
Now, the UFC is stuck (assuming the fight can generate $400m on PPV, the UFC's take [which they'd split with McGregor] would be at least $75m, before counting the UK/Ireland money, the live gate at T-Mobile, are a host of other revenues; add up all of the pieces an the UFC could easily end up splitting $115m with McGregor), looking for a way to back out without the fans seeing them back out.Comment

If the UFC backs out of the fight, Floyd continues on with his property/real estate business, puts more weight behind pushing the fighters under his Mayweather Promotions banner (Gervonta Davis is a world champ, and he's got a few guys on the cusp), and continues on doing whatever successful 40 year olds do.Comment

But Conor getting Humiliated or Ko'd backfires on the UFC no matter what amount of money received. IMAGE is so important these days for fan appeal and reputation. Floyd would embarrass and Humiliate little leprechaun Conor and probably knock a few tattoos off the big mouthIrish braggart.I agree; McGregor and the UFC never had any real intention of actually making the fight; no different than with Ronda, they were using Floyd's name to elevate Conor in from of the casual combat sports fan.
