Attendance means nothing. Canelo/Chavez could easily draw 90k if they wanted. But there is reason why Floyd the biggest draw ever fought exclusively in Vegas in small 10K seating venues. Because Vegas is where the money is and they pay more money for the fights. They pay large sums for the rights, they jack up the ticket prices to lure celebs and high rollers to spend money at their casisons. That's why these fights have larger live gates and generate more money then fights in football stadiums. Canelo drew 52k fans at cowboy stadium to see him fight an unknown fighter that has never fought on American or Mexican TV before. Cowboy Stadium was willing to pay a lot for Chavez and they could of filled 90K but Vegas pays more so that's why they landed the fight in a 20k arena. It's about revenue not attendance.

Joshua has has potential to be the bigger star.

He is not midget height, he speaks english, and fights at the premier weight division of Boxing.

If Canelo beats GGG though, sky is the limit for him.

Canelo because he has a more options.

Joshua can rematch Wlad, and needs fights with Wilder, Parker, Ortiz and Fury. He has to win them all to keep his star shining bright. After that, the well runs dry and the talent pool gets real shallow.

Canelo can fight Lemieux, Saunders, Jacobs, GGG and Charlo. He can also test the waters in the U.K. and fight Eubank Jr. or Brook. Not that he would travel overseas, because he will always be the A-side with any of those opponents, but he can string his career out longer, against title holders and decent opponents. He can also dip his toes into 168 versus Ramirez or DeGale. There are only so many decent HWs to go around but the talent will always re-stock between 154-168 for Canelo to take his pick.

If Anthony Joshua were able to knock off all of the names you've listed, you'd be talking about Anthony Joshua being the undisputed/unified/lineal heavyweight champion of the world!

The IBF and WBC regularly call for mandatory defenses, and the WBA rotates in their own mandatory defenses.

Take the heavyweight champions around the world, fighting on the biggest stages possible (Wembley in London, Bird's Nest in Beijing, T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, National Stadium in Abuja or MKO Abiola Stadium in his parent's home state, the Middle East, Germany, etc).

Shallow talent pool or not, you'd have a big punching undisputed champion for the sport to feature

But comparing it to basketball arenas that hold 20k, or baseball stadiums that hold 50k, or football stadiums that hold 100k it's small. The venues Floyd fought were among the smallest venues in the country but he fought at them because Vegas paid out them he nose for his fights.

Floyd could of easily filled up football stadiums if he just cared about attendance, but Floyd saw the bigger picture and fought were the money is.

The media fawned over Tyson Fury when he beat Wlad just as much as they are fawning over AJ right now.

UK PPVs are sold for like 15 bucks. Canelo sells ppvs at 70 bucks. Joshua fight didn't even generate as much revenue as canelo's fight with khan. Let alone canelo fight with cotto which drew about double the revenue of khan fight or the Chavez fight on sat which likely generates the most of any canelo fight except for when he fought floyd.

Joshua may of set the UK domestic ppv record but it's nowhere near the overall PPV record or the amounts generated from canelo's top PPVs.

I still think Canelo is the bigger star. The names I listed at HW are not Frazier, Foreman and Ali that he needs to beat. They aren't even Dokes, Page, and Ruddock.

If Canelo defeats the likes of GGG and Saunders to unify 160, that far exceeds anything Joshua can accomplish. Add to that the possibility of adding a title at 168, and he is the biggest star in boxing.
