So if Alvarez was planning to move to 160, he would've asked Chavez Jr. at 160? This is the only justifiable catchweight.

Surprised how many posters don't know Alvarez called out Chavez Jr. years ago but Chavez Jr. turned him down as Nelo was a nobody

Cinnamon doesn't have to apologize for fighting this fight @ a catch-weight. He can save it for the fans if Chavez beats him.

Anyways wow Canelo is the CW king

        nah.....

        " catchweight king " and " manny-weight " belong to Pac

Pac did the exact same thing at 144

he did it first, and pacfans like you did not have a problem

he ****** the welters down and he dragged the juniors up

before Pacquiao, I had never encountered weight being an integral part of EVERY single negotiation, even against guys in his own division

        how quickly they forget

        and how quickly they flip-flop

he will beat Golovkin, and nobody will mention it again

just like " nobody " mentions FOUR YEARS of "anyone from 154-168 doe"..... and just like "nobody" mentions Golovkin specifically promising to fight Canelo at 154.

At that time there was a long line of boxers wanting to fight Floyd for big bucks. I think Canelo's people through that idea out there to get to the head of the line. Floyd then fought Guerrero and the PPV numbers were subpar. Canelo should have kept quite and would have gotten the Floyd fight anyway. He probably did feel drained, but the idea originated with Canelo's folks. As for the Cotto middleweight fight, I suspect that Canelo would have wanted to fight at a weight closer to 160, but Cotto was having none of that. Remember Cotto fully expected to win and a 155 catch weight would have given leverage if he decided to fight GGG. Though Canelo might be technically correct that Cotto wanted the 155 weight, the less said about that by Canelo the better for him.

              catchweights suck

it's about respect for your opponent, and respect for the sport

              e.g.

regardless as to who wins, the weight will be used as an excuse by the loser..... Jnr will say he was drained, and Canelo will say the 10lb jump was too much

              Canelo/Chavez will end with a *

the ONLY two reasons why I bash Golovkin for punking out on Canelo is..... FOUR YEARS of promising "anyone from 154-168", ended up with Golovkin killing HUGE fights over the weight..... and he specifically promised to fight Canelo at 154, but then refused to even negotiate for 157/158

Fighting a former LHW at 164.5 is perfectly fine by me since Cinnamon never fought above 154/155...so I'm confused about the CW being a big deal ???

that is true, Canelo did not try to drain his JMW opponents

but he was able to gain an extra pound, which may not have benefitted his JMW opponents as much as it did him

it was lame and unprofessional either way

but what Canelo did is nothing like 144 manny-weight, where Pac ****** down the welters and dragged up the juniors..... he specifically used weight manipulation to disadvantage his opponents

the pacfans who bash Canelo, are two-faced fanboy clowns

To borrow from a famous line in the movie Casa Blanca: "I am shocked that lying is going on here." One would think that promoters, boxers and managers would be above that short of thing.
