I think Vitali was the better fighter whn both were in their prime. One of Vitali's best assets was having a great chin that his brother didn't have. Vitali was never knocked down in his long career and he fought many big punchers. When it comes to a champion's responsibility to defend his title often against top contenders I think Wlad did a better job of that than Vitali so Wlad was the better champion.
Who was the better heavyweight champion? Wladimir Klitschko or Vitali Klitschko?

Vitali is greater imo. He stopped 2 guys that definitively beat Wlad. That's Purity and Sanders.
Wlad beat Byrd but Vitali pulled out himself.
Last saturday has me just thinking if that was Vitali in there. Joshua would've been TKOed against the ropes. Wlad has just so few punches. jab. left hook. right straight. he has no upper cuts. no body shots. no right hooks.Comment

Wlad freezes up and needs room to operate.Comment

Wlad fought all of the top contenders and Vitali only fought about 5 people that were in the top 10 his whole career. So not really.
They both have their fair share of bums, as does any champion, but Vitali's basically made up of entirely bums and severely overmatched competition and cruiserweights, whereas Wlad actually fought the top contenders and other champions.
I agree, that's why I say Wladimir is the better Champion. Other than Joe Louis no one had more title defenses.
The Klitschko era was dreadful though. From 2004 to 2014 the lack of depth, competition and talent was horrid. But they did dominate their era, particularly Wladimir.
I just feel Vitali was tougher. Wladimir the better champion, Vitali the better fighter.
No biggie, we can agree to disagree. That's cool.Comment

The only thing that made it the "worst" era ever for you is the fact that it wasn't an American or British fighter at the top of the mountain.
Now that Joshua, Wilder, and Fury are the top guys everybody believes we are in a heavyweight revival. It is absolutely delusional.
The weakest eras ever were the Larry Holmes and Joe Louis eras and those two are regarded as the greatest of all time. I wonder why that is.
We definitely can agree to disagree.
I've never seen a more dreadful era of lack of Heavyweight quality, depth or competition than the Klitschko era.
No problem, we agree to disagree. I'm okay with that.Comment

Vitali is a H2H matchup legend on the forums. His career on the other hand fell quite short of Wlad's, for whatever reasons there may be.Comment

vitali had a better chin and was a better ring general and would beat wladimir if they fought.
wladimir had a much, much better career. both will be in the hall of fame.Comment

Vitali. No great goes life and death in their peak vs Sam Peter having to rely on excessive mugging n fouling to get through.
Vitali at least showed how to properly take care of d levelers.Comment
