Ironically Vitali's best career fight also came in a loss to a Brit as well when he fought Lennox Lewis back in 2003.
That fight came with not much preparation for Lennox and was far from the best Vitali. That's why we never got a rematch.

I sometimes wish Lennox lost that fight because then he would have had a rematch, been in better shape, had a full training camp to prepare for Klitschko instead of that fight where he trained for Kirk Johnson for most of the camp before he pulled out with injury. But oh well.

Some other similarities between these two fights is that both Klitschko brothers got cut on the left eye, Vitali's was way worse though. And both Klitschko brothers got hit with vicious uppercuts right before both fights ended. Both uppercuts happened in the last round of each fight.
Agreed. The rematch would have been a show for the ages. And I still remember the sound of that uppercut, which Vitali, looked like, didn't even notice. Must have been very discouraging for Lewis to land a shot that would make a hole in a brick wall and yet to have no effect on his opponent. Vitali's chin is made of adamantium and better than Wlad's.. Not as if Wlad's is made of glass judging by what shots he's taken from AJ. But 14 years of difference made a difference in that fight.

So physically this Wlad was inferior but mentally and emotionally the 41 Wlad was superior.

You know what's interesting. And I did have Vitali ahead on the cards for sure against Lennox. But what was interesting is in that last round a little bit before that round ended Vitali got hit with a punch to the temple and got hurt and fell forward /stumbled forward towards Lennox on the ropes. Both guys were exhausted. Man, talking about it makes me want a rematch.

Lol, I'll stop talking about it now. Good stuff man.

Wlads speed and footwork are not as good as they used to be. His left hook is also not what it used to be. Talking about will and toughness this has been Wlads best fighte ver but other than that he is past prime. Not a shame though, he is 41. For a 41 year old hes still verry good for sure.

This is why Wlad doesn't crack my top 10 (or even 15) list of all-time greatest heavyweights.

                    Sure. Easy.

                    Ali
                    Holmes
                    Foreman
                    Liston
                    Prime Tyson
                    Dempsey
                    Johnson
                    Holyfield
                    Louis
                    Lewis

In addition, Mariano and Frazier both had much better careers than Wlad, though both may have been too small to win head-to-head.

I said this before this fight ended. Someone please name a fight where Wlad looked this good - moving, boxing....jabbing and hooking...firing the hell out of that right hand....not playing it safe and hugging. Even took some serious shots, when the ones that dropped him landed on the top of his head. I wish this version fought Fury, who ran his way to a decision win. This Wlad is a problem for every HW out right now....hungry with no belts. That break was just what he needed. Why you think he got pics from sparring with these dudes? He knows he has something for their young asses.
